Default 6month old not ALWAYS turning head to my voice

My 6 month old doesnt always turn to my voice, especially when playing with toys or other distractions. Is this normal? Milestone chart says he should turn to my voice - he does sometimes but not always. Also at what age did you baby consistetnly respond to their name? Thanks so much... FTM alert!!!!

My DD is almost 8 months and doesn't always turn to look at me when I call her. I put it down to her being distracted. If there are no toys around or other noise she will always respond. I agree though if your concerned mention it to your GP at least for some peace of mind.

If bubs is distracted by other toys it makes sense that he doesnt always turn to your voice.

DS1 and 2 (6 and 4yo) still dont always turn to my voice when I talk to them!

Your health nurse would have done hearing checks at your 2 and 4 month check ups and if they arent concerned I wouldnt be.

Best thing to do is make it quiet, no distractions then make a sound or speak to him and see if he responds. If he responds then I would say that all is well.

However if you are comcerned you can always contact your health nurse. the fact that he does respond at times would suggest that he can hear you.
