Congrats! When are you moving? And where are you moving from? I know no one in Melbourne so am hoping to meet people and make friends as the hardest part about moving from Canberra is leaving my friends. The thought of having no support network is a little scary.

Hey op, I grew up a few suburbs over, closer to airport in greenvale. Was never a fan of Epping tbh, bit rough and bogan but that was ten yrs ago. If you like more rural check out subburbs near where I grew up, like wallan or sunbury (kinda up Hume hey). Greenvale didn't have much transport but nice family area. All those areas would be 20min - 30min from Epping.

I live in Mernda and will be moving to Doreen early May.
Plenty Road is only bad at the moment because of the roadworks - and once they are finished it will help a lot with the traffic out this way. As someone else said, you would be going up Bridge Inn Rd to get to Epping anyway.
I would stick to the newer areas of Epping - Aurora/lyndarum/eucalypt etc. I love it out this way

I'm also in Mernda (Riverdale Estate) and love it !! Fantastic Kindergarten, great schools... close to Westfield shopping centre. I wouldn't live anywhere else in Melbourne.

Plenty Road is an absolute shocker at the moment, but that will hopefully improve (at least on this end) when the roadworks are completed in a couple of months... looking forward to that day as trying to turn right out of my estate at the moment is a bit of a nightmare !!

Real estate agent didn't ring back with an answer today like she said she would so I'm not hopeful on that one
For those of you who live in Mernda can you tell me what facilities are there? I didn't see any shops other than the ones being built. Is there anything really out there yet or would. Have to go to epping/ south morang for everything? We are heading back to Melbourne next week to continue house hunting. We need something ASAP and I have noticed lots of the houses in Mernda are available now.

There's a Safeway with lots of smaller shops just 5 minutes down the rd in Doreen, it's called laurimer.

A lot of people cut through Breadalbane to get to the next estate to avoid part of plenty rd. We are right near a massive playground. Maybe we should organize a Mernda meet?!
