Default can you use steriod creams in pregnancy?

I was just wondering what steriod creams are safe in pregnancy.
My eczema is shocking at the moment and it is driving me mad!
I am trying to hold off using creams untill im 3mths preg but it's started to bleed.
    Help.
Iv'e tried the natural creams but nothing but steriod creams work for me.
    Thanks

When I was pg with DS, I had some serious itchy issues with my c-scar. My OB prescribed me Sigmacort 1% cream to help out. I think it was pretty early on in the pg.

I had eczema all over my legs recently, the antenatal gp prescribed 0.02% cortisone cream.
I wouldn't go any higher than that though especially early in the pregnancy. Ask your antenatal dr or gp.

Otherwise try Dermaveen Oatmeal baths or some other cream like Hopes Relief cream... not sure if it will work, but the oatmeal baths did wonders for the itching for me at night. Especially when I used real rolled oats in the bath.

My eczema flared up something shocking during pregnancy which annoyed me because so many books and magazines kept saying that most people found their skin beautiful in pregnancy because of the extra glow and hormones what not.... grrr.... anyway....

Like you I resisted steriod creams but nothing else worked and in the end I asked my OB and she said it was ok as long as it wasn't long term use. It's better to use it for say a few days to clear up the problem than have the problem for weeks and months and suffer because of it!

I used the steriod cream and within a few days it helped and whenever it flared up again I used it. I spoke to 3 different OB's and all of them said the same thing - you can use it as long as it isn't long term use.

All the best! I know how aggravating it is!!!! but !!

Thank you girls for the hugs and advice.

I will go to the doc and see what he say's. I think I will need to use a something, otherwise I think it will get to the stage of being infected. I really don't want that.
My DH said it's the worst he has seen me have it in 8yrs. I'm sure I didn't have it this bad when I was preg with DS.
Does anyone know why it can get worse in pregnancy?
