I don't think anyone has a problem with the video, just debating the issue of "choice" in this context .

DE - I don't think the people who are claiming the 'choice' thing even watched your link....
Your link makes people think about an answer - you can see the people's mind ticking... what we are hearing in here is ignorance wrapped as as opinion.

Those who claim that marriage is a strictly religious ceremony, should I be allowed to marry even though DP and I are strictly athiest?
Aaah this is a good point, Sass brought it up too but I forgot. So to those religious folk who believe that marriage (how we have it today) is strictly religious and that by gays getting married that it would destroy the sactity of marriage....you would all then, logically, would have to oppose any non-christian getting married, especially athiests and you would also have to oppose 'civil' ceremonies too as they are not religious either.

I dont understand why people support no discrimation against peoples race, an employer cant discrinate against pregnant workers and so on yet some people still believe in discrimnating against gay people....

It makes no sense at all, it should be the law that that discrination against race & sexualityis illegal!

Wether you like or dislike gay people, not allowing them to marry is not going to make gays go away, it is not going to make them turn straight,
    So let them marry!!

I love straight people an i love gay people and i want them to marry!!

Anyone who doesnt should look at it like this- what if it were reversed and only gays could marry.... How would you feel not being able to marry your husband or wife.....

One day there will be a gay president, priminster, king, queen , and maybe then the world will change and see that their sexuality does not make them strange ir wrong!

Guys like vag1na.... Why cant girls?
Girls like pen1is.... Why cant guys....

To those who are so againist gays, the ones who go as far as being publically hating them bullying them.... I hope you feel guilty the next time you hear a young teen commiting suicide because they couldnt bare the effects of coming out.

I love all men & women however they were born!!

That includes BOTH sides of this argument. Insulting another persons opinion is not oki.

Out of curiosity, where does BubHub draw the line here? What if someone's opinions are discriminatory?

DH & I both support gay marriage.

There is no fair reason that they should not be granted this right, and other rights that heterosexual couples are allowed.

I'm sure in years to come, after gay marriage becomes legal () that future generations will be thinking "wow, I can't believe how backwards society used to be".

That is truly my hope too. I am very much expecting that one day DD will say "huh? Some people were against Aunty [name] and Aunty [name] getting married? What's up with that??"

Bubhub draws the line when a post is against the rules.

If a post is discriminatory - then it is in contravention of this part of the general rules
    • Members must not post messages on the forum or via the PM system which threaten, abuse, harass, degrade or intimidate an individual or group of people e.g. on the basis of religion, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, age or disability. This includes the posting of jokes, or links to other sites on the web
If you see a post which fits the above - please report - we are not always in every single thread - so sometimes need someone to flag the reports. The above is just as relevant to people degrading an individual for their opinion as to a group of people being degraded against due to their gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, age, .......

    Bottom line
    On the flip side:
Do not retaliate in the open forum. If you find a post offensive or aggressive, report the post to the moderating team by clicking the ! button on the top right hand corner of every post.
Except - just realised - the report button since a change to the forum a while back is in the bottom left corner of the posts.

If you don't agree with someone's opinion - that's not what the report button is about - if you think someone is being discriminatory - then report, if you don't agree with their opinion but it's not necessarily discriminatory - then post a well worded response in the thread - Bubhub is a good place for education.

This works really well when people keep to the topics. I know I've learned heaps about issues "on the other side of the fence" through reading over the years, but when someone starts being rude to someone because their opinion is different to the other person's then people close their ears and stop listening.
