Default VENT VENT VENT Telstra is so difficult to talk to,

I get transferred from department to department because no-one knows anything about anyone elses area, and most people I get to talk to are difficult to understand due to their accent, and they also have difficulty understanding me.

Add that to the fact that different people give contradictory information.

    For example:

    I want to do XYZ.
    No you cannot do XYZ.
    Okay, what about ABC?
I'll transfer you to another area for that.

    Next area.
I would like to do ABC.
    What about XYZ?
I was told that wasn't possible.
Sure it is, I'll transfer you to the specialist that will do XYZ for you.
    Great. Thank you.

Then I get transferred back to the previous department that already told me XYZ was impossible.

    Arghhhhh

    OHHH I HEAR YOU!

Whenever I have to call Telstra (or Vodafone) I feel like crying before I've even picked up the phone.

What is it about telco's that they all have such APPALLING customer service?!

The trick is, when you first call and they ask you to "say in a few words what you are calling about" say "COMPLAINT". You get put through to people who have the authority and understanding to sort things out properly and quickly.

Try it, it was a last resort for me and worked wonders

As for what I am trying to do - set up wireless broadband for my father.

He has the following modems available to use:

zte mf633bp+ (supplied by Telstra Bigpond) previously used for a now cancelled post paid wireless broadband account.

Tstick 3.6Ghz white (supplied by 2degrees NZ)

    MF190 (supplied by Telecom NZ)

    ---------------

He does not have a home phone.

    ---------------

He needs to use Telstra because he travels to remote areas and Telstra is the only company that offers the widest coverage area.

Well I am frustrated. After two hours I finally get transferred to technical support, where they are saying that their SIMs will only work with their devices and no other devices. Surely that cannot be true.

Unfortunately, yes, some companies lockdown their SIM cards. Very irritating.

    And 2hours?? That is ridiculous.

*nods* most simcards are locked to the one company.
My DP works for Telstra, and if you're not happy with the service you've received so far (and the issue is unresolved on account of them being useless) he'd probably say to call them back, tell them you're really unhappy and that if it isn't resolved by the close of business today you're going to contact the ombudsman and file a level 2 complaint. Make sure you say level 2 complaint, along with the ombudsman it's the thing they really want to avoid because it costs the company a grand if you go ahead and file one.

    Thanks Berrie.

Unfortunately I am currently flustered and not in the right frame of mind to be talking to them anymore. But I will take your advice for my next call.
