i came up with the names i liked and dh chose which ones he liked from those lists.

eldest i wanted 'xander' like from buffy, DH said ok but only if it was Alexander (and i agreed because that was his full name in buffy too) lol. we call him Xander. but his teachers refuse and call him Alex. it really annoys me.

eXH chose DS's name. It wasn't on our list and DS was nameless for 2.5 weeks. eXH finally stumbled upon DS's name and I happened to like it so that was it.

With DD I went through baby books and wrote down any that I liked. Some of them got eliminated as time went on just because I went off them. She ended up being named a variation of one of my cousins' names. FOB and I just talked about it and he left the final decision up to me in the end. Everyone likes her name and I'm happy with what I chose.

Lol DF wouldn't have minded Conan... he kept on coming up with names like that..not sure how serious he was.
    Cohen is pretty cool!

Strangely we both agreed on one of the first names we thought of, both for boys & girls lol. We both liked each others names and so from about 3months in we had decided on the first names.

I suggested Isobel for a girl (got it from a book & love it. Turns out DF had a deceased great aunt or some rellie called Isobel)
DF suggested Angus for a boy (he wanted something Irish/Scottish based to reflect his heritage).
For the second names we drew up some lists & eliminated anything we didn't both like. Ended up using my middle name (Marie) for DDs middle name as it flowed well & worked with DFs surname too.

I have a cousin named Grendel, he is the only one I know and I still think it is the worst name ever. So glad you vetowed your partner on that one! lol

Before even falling pregnant I told dp a boys name that I've loved since I was 16 and he liked that, then I asked what girls names he liked and he said Amelia which i also loved. When we found out we were pregnant we went with those 2 names but the middle name we'd chosen for a girl would have given her the initials a.ss lol so when I saw Emilia I thought it was perfect dp was not convinced at first but he came around so we now have a beautiful little Emilia!!

We found it so hard to name a boy, because really your naming the man, not the boy...
So you really need something cute at first but manly later.
If we were having a girl she would be Chelsea.
But other boy name he came up with was Flames :|

    Um. No.
Then he came up with Rusty which he loves to death... I find it.. Alright.. so I've agreed that can be his middle name if he loves it that much.

My fav " how did you get your name" story is my mums, she was a few hours old and my grandpa was having a drink at the pub to celebrate started talking to an Irish man, he told the man about the birth of his daughter and the question of her name was asked grandpa told him we don't have one yet the Irish man said " what about Rhonda"
And so my mum was named

My son I had chosen Tate but my partner liked Cooper I thought it was too common so we compromised I spelt it he chose it. We ended up spelling it koopa so it had some sort of originality to it. His middle name is mark after my husbands identical twin brother who passed away around a year to the day we meet.

Our daughter due in august we went with Mia and lily for middle name which is after my nan. We originally said if girl we would have Harper both believing it would be another boy. When confirmed a girl we said it had to be something pretty and cute so it was Mia "princess Mia"

This is our first, and I'm not even 14 weeks, but this is how it's gone so far:

At about 7 or 8 weeks, I gave my partner a list of names I like. He went through and deleted ones he hated, marked ones he really liked, and left ones he didn't mind.

There were two girls' names he really liked, both of which were among my favourites: Shae and Charlotte. I think we both prefer Charlotte, but it's incredibly popular at the moment. We both love Shae as well, so in all likelihood we'll name our baby Shae if it's a girl.

A couple of days ago my partner was looking through lists of boys names and reading out ones he liked. There were a few I didn't like at all, 2 which had been on my own list (Julian and Reuben), and one which I hadn't thought of but like (Xavier). We both like these three, but have different favourites. At least we have plenty of time to decide.

Sooo at this point, we're thinking
    Girl - Shae
Boy - Julian, Reuben or Xavier
