    Default Weekly allowance?

For those that give themselves a weekly allowance how much is it or if your more comfortable what % of your after expenses is it? We are looking at doing this as a way of avoiding using the money we are meant to be saving and I'd like an idea of what's 'normal'. Also if you can, what kids of things does it cover or not cover?

For me - $25 a week, for DH - $50. It's not the same because I want to save money but DH maintains he can't survive on less.

Mine is $40 and DH is $80. He has to buy his fuel out of that each week though which is about $20. The little bit extra was to teach him to save and it's actually working. Prior to us meeting he was terrible with money. We are still paying off his bad financial choices 3 years later.

Dh and I don't have an allowance. We will check big purchases with each other though.

$300 a week, that's for lunches out, play centers, my coke addiction & my clothes.

I've been known to blow it in 2 hours 😳. I have a really bad spending habit

DH $30 me & kids $40 it has to cover all non essentials.(DH calls it his 'porn' money because I said he could spend it on anything!- not that he actually uses it for anything of the sort)
It started at $70 each and we have slowly reduced it over time as we both had poor money habits and couldnt start so low.
