Question V. Heavy First Period Postpartum - Normal?

    Hi everyone

AF started on Friday, first one since having my bubba boy 9 weeks ago.
It's much heavier than my AF used to be, and I'm now on day 5 and it's still very heavy (wearing super pads and changing every 1-2 hours). In fact it seems to be getting heavier each day.

My usual AF lasts 4-5 days, heavier on day one and 2 then only spotting til the end, so to have bleeding as heavy as this is very foreign to me!
I also normally get very bad menstrual cramps which I don't have at all at the moment.

I don't remember what it was like after DD almost 6 years ago, so just wondering if this is "normal"?

I had a bit of an issue with my postpartum bleeding where that it stopped at two weeks then a few days later I passed two MASSIVE clots (as in, mango sized ), and the bleeding returned with a vengeance. I had to get an internal ultrasound done and there was a collection of blood trapped in a pocket where the uterine scarring is (I've had 2 c/s). Anyhoo the doc said if the bleeding didn't stop within a week I'd need to get it looked into further but it stopped a few days later so I left it at that. Not sure if any of this is relevant but thought it may be worth mentioning incase anyone has had a similar issue and has some insight.

My first post-baby AF was a bit long and wacky too, but not as heavy as you describe. Given you had bleeding issues I'd be letting your OB or GP know, just in case they want to check it out.

My first AF after Bub was horrendous 😲

Before kids, AF was a light flow 2-3 days.

First one post kid was like 7 days long with changing giga mega absorbency pads every 2 hours. It was hell.

Came back to normal after a couple of cycles.
