Well our IVF journey has been very fast so far.
We decided about 3 months ago to do IVF. Saw the FS about 2.5 months ago. We had already applied for relevant docs, so headed to Monash IVF. Saw them about 2 months ago.
CD 1 - 3/5/12
CD 2 - 4/5/12 - STARTED NIGHT INJECTION
CD 5 - 7/5/12 - US & BT
CD 6 - 8/5/12 - STARTED MORNING INJECTION AS WELL
CD 9 - 10/5/12 THURSDAY - US & BT - TOLD TO STOP ALL MEDS AND TO TAKE MY TRIGGER SHOT THAT NIGHT AT 6.30PM.
BOOKED IN FOR EGG PICK UP AND TESTICULAR BIOPSY SPERM RETRIEVAL FOR CD11.
So today is CD11 - We arrived at admission at 7.15. My husband went in for his procedure. Then I went in. We were through recovery and out in the car by 10am.
We were told they picked up 11 eggs and there was lots of swimmers.
So now we wait. We will get the embryo #'s on Monday. Then we will go back for the transfer on Thursday.
Sorry i dont know the technical names or med names, I try not to get caught up in it. I just do everything Im told and trust my body and specialists.
Im told that the amount of eggs we got today was great. Also that my body repsonded to the drugs perfectly. Everythngn so far has gone well.
I had my moments on the drugs, up and down emotions and hormones. Not too much bloating and not much pain.
Ive had minimal spotting today and pain not as severe and O pain or period pain. Went out for lunch!
Hubby is doing ok, as long as he doesnt bump himself. LOL!
So we are obviously doing ICSI. Why? Well we have 4 children. 2 from my previous partner and my husband has 2 from his ex wife. He had a vasectomy 6 years ago. As we all know life changes and now we have decided to try for a child together.
Fingers crossed. Im not sure really what happens next. Ill just be doing a pregnancy test everyday next week! lol!
They say we have a 75% chance first cycle because of my age, good health, great fertility and the fact we have had children previously.
Looking forward to reading more of your stories.
Hey Mich, that's not a chemical... those are called (horrible name...a man must have come up with it) are blighted ova (or blighted ovum, singular).... so the sac develops, but the baby doesn't... that's what I had... found out at 9 weeks...We were devastated as we had been TTC for years... but we took it as the kick up the butt we needed and a trial run. My OB was brilliant and sent out the chemical tabs and instructions in the mail and dealt with the m/c at home...wouldn't want to wish it on anyone.
SL1009 a chemical pregnancy, as I understand it is the embryo implants, or almost does but nothing much else happens after that and AF just comes a little late.. The HCG can be detected, but rather than rising as it should, it doesn't get very high or is very slow and then decreases. Hence why I'm not celebrating yet.
Thanks ladies for explaining a chemical pregnancy - I pray that none of us have to go through that...
Congrats to all those with great EPU results - heres hoping ET and TWW go quickly and positively
Those waiting on BTs your nearly there....my prayers are with you that your dreams come true...
As for me - still sniffing, another 5 days til I start jabbing. Feeling particularly low this evening; whilst I am happy for my friends that they have been blessed with their children, my DH and I went to our friends second sons' 1st bday party....our other friend announced she was pregnant with her second child. That literally means that everyone in our circle of friends has, or will have soon, two children. To add to it, one of my old best friends from school in the uk just gave birth to her little girl today. Feeling it tonight : ( xxx
nicb13 - if it were me, I'd take the advice of my specialist. I'd look at it this way, a quick maintenance and spring clean for the little frosty. I would take the month off rather than potentially waste more time for a higher than normal probability of a no result.
capri_12 - if you are worried, call your FN, that is what they are there for and what you are paying for.
ertgirl - Good luck, I hope it is good news and nothing to worry about and yur hubby is ok. This is the last thing you need on top of needing to do IVF.
four2five - welcome and for great fert rates and lots of frosties... then what will you do?? lol
SL1009 - sorry to hear you are feeling low. Both of my (younger!!) siblings have 3 each and I love all my nieces and nephews to bits. The only time I have felt envious of my friends and family for falling preg is when I found out my first cycle was a BFN...that same day I got a postcard from my girlfriend in the US announcing the upcoming arrival of their second ... otherwise I seem to feel very happy with each new announcement for the miracles they are...I get more p1$$ed off that the local ferals breed like damned rabbits (my tax dollars at work) ... you know the type - walking skeletons, will missing teeth and listless eyes, with a ciggy in the corner of their mouth and a can of alcohol in one hand, pushing a stroller in the other and screaming at their 4 other children... I look at that and want to scream myself!! <rant over>
Hi ladies can I join? AF just arrived so doing my first FET (no drugs) in a few weeks!
