Dancingbutterfly-do you drink vodka? I love vodka, soda water with a slice of lime. One of the things I've thought of is buying a hip flask and filling it with water instead, mixing it with soda water to look the part.

    Dancing - that's always hard.
I'd go with the antibiotics, rather than trying to pretend your drinking.
It would just be easier than keeping up appearances.... Or simply saying your not well & heading home early... It's tuff avoiding social get togethers... I think I ****ed a friend off during my tww as they went clubbing fir her birthday, I said I wouldn't be coming as I couldn't drink and wasn't up to it.... Then the day of her birthday af turned up & I got ****ed with a different friend as I was feeling sooo sorry for myself, think my other friend is annoyed now but if my friends don't understand how hard this is, I don't care if they are a little upset or disappointed, it's nothing to how I've been feeling!

I hope O hurries up, what cycle day are you? Mine was much later than I expected this month!

If you do use the excuse of antibiotics, you must say Metronidazole. It's the only antibiotic you can't drink with and is most commonly used by dentists.

Up early this morning to POAS with DH still home and check it out! Top was the one we did Sunday and the bottom is this mornings.

There is definitely something happening in there... Absolutely must be going up. I cant honestly believe what I'm looking at! I'm going to ring the FN today and tell her, see if I can move up my BT. Can't wait till Thursday. I guess it could still be an ectopic pregnancy, but I feel fine. I would've thought there'd be some discomfort if it was that. Then again, I feel really normal, no sign of any pregnancy!

Not out of the woods yet, but hanging in there!

Wow, franniesplace - that looks very positive indeed! No pregnancy 'feelings' doesn't mean anything - I didn't have any when I was pregnant with DD. Keep us posted!

dancingbutterfly - I reckon one of the easiest ways to avoid drinking/ a late one is to say that you haven't been feeling well. You can even say that you were in two minds about coming, but are feeling better now - just don't want to push your luck by drinking/ a late night.

AFM - Had my first EPU yesterday. It was a bit more emotional than I'd expected, as I found myself feeling so upset and angry in the wait to go in. Just angry that it's come to this. But I feel okay now, and glad we got 12 eggs - that's more than we were hoping for. We were expecting 9. Does that mean the FS miscounted follicles, or that one follicle can produce more than one egg? Waiting to hear how many fertilised today...

A couple of questions, as I'm new to all this:

    1) I don't understand why the BT is 14 days after a 5 day transfer. Shouldn't it be 9 days after? Normally you'd test 14 days after ovulation. The embryo has had 5 days to grow already (post-O), so why isn't a BT at 9 days after that?

    2) I also don't understand about why people who have had a positive pregnancy test are given blood tests every couple of days to monitor HcG levels. When I was pregnant with DD (non-IVF, Clomid baby) I did a POAS and got a positive, confirmed it with a blood test at the GP the same day, and then saw my FS a few days later for a scan. If you're pregnant, aren't you just pregnant? Is there something that's IVF specific that means an early pregnancy test/ BT could still be wrong? I'm worried about getting all excited about a potential positive, and then it still not being a 'real' positive. (I know all pregnancies can go wrong, but is there something IVF specific about this that explains why we all have multiple BTs to monitor levels day by day?)

Hope that makes sense! Thanks for your patience

    Hey,
No they don't mis-count, I think a follicle can have 2 eggs, plus follicles might hide behind one another... We expected 12 but got 20! Only ended up with 3 2 day.

Good question about bloods, I assumed you waited less time, I'd call & question the nurse. As far as bt all the time, I was only given the one 14 days past transfer & I organized one through my gp cause I saw everyone on here was more.. I questioned my fs why I didn't have more, he said there's no need, if your pregnant, your pregnant! However I feel if they tested me more they would have realised my numbers were not rising as high as they should have 135 14 days past 2 day transfer & 829 when my gp tested me at 5 weeks :-( gp said it was good but I feel the fs would have picked up earlier something was wrong?! The fs said there is also no point because if you are going to have a miscarriage, then blood testes won't stop it :-/
I just think that some clinics are motte through than others & some people might need to be checked more often for different reasons... I'm requesting more bloods next time!

    Good luck! X
