Webjet.com.au compares all flights in Australia. Just don't book through them cause they charge a fee. Also virgin blue has happy hour on week days between 4 and 6 for cheap flights.

I tend to check all the sites myself directly, as many of those 'combined' sites only show airlines they are affiliated with (particularly for OS flights).

I'm also subscribed to the local airlines for cheap sales.

jetradar.com is the only place I go to search flights now, after consistently finding them to find the best deals. They don't 'promote' any particular airline, but are totally transparent, plus they include the extra fees and taxes that you know you have to pay but many other 'comparison' sites leave off. This is helpful, as you can make a fair assessment of which is the best price.

I use sky scanner and Expedia for overseas flights (always check with my travel agent first if they can do a deal though) and web jet for domestic (but like others book through the airlines website).

Skyscanner is good for straight return flights (eg Bris - LA) and I used Expedia for multi-cities (Brisbane-Delhi-Kathmandu-Brisbane). Skyscanner gives every option and I mean every option, it offered up NYC-Brisbane via Brussels and Dubai for me once....

And use a travel agent as well.... I got an Air NZ flight for $1800 when the lowest advertised was $2200 simply because the travel agent had access to a specific deal
