Default How do you define 'Atheist'?

I just read a couple of locked thread on here and it seems that people have very weird (to me ) ideas about what it means to be an atheist. So what is an atheist to you? And are you an atheist by your definition?

I like to call myself a 'heathen'. I'm not atheist technically as my definition of the word is one who believes that there is no god or gods but I don't want some poor evangelist to get the wrong idea when I say that I'm an agnostic. Though I am. Agnosticism seems to imply that I am ripe for converting - I am not

Hmm, well, I call myself an athiest and to *me* it means that I don't believe in the existence of any god or any supernatural type thing. I don't believe in spirits, ghosts, gods, karma, energy (as in the hippy, chakra thing). Nothing that I can't see, hear, touch, feel etc IYKWIM?

I have a friend that is atheist but she believe in ghosts and other woo

I've been told more times than I can count that atheists are people that are angry with god. Which is odd in so many ways!

Angry with god? wacky! Not sure how you could be angry with something non-existent *in my eyes.

I don't think one could call themselves an athiest if they believe in ghosts or anything like that.

Well, I suppose you don't need to believe in god to believe that there are other supernatural things out there. Although I think most atheists and other related heathens tend to disbelieve in all such things.

I wish I did believe in the woo. How cool would it be if a crystal could actually heal my sore back?!

I'm atheist and I don't believe in god - that's how I tend to define it, someone who doesn't believe in a god or gods.

I'm not 'angry at god' because I can't be angry at something that doesn't exist...
