    Question PCOS & Natural herbs

    Hey all.
Just wondering if anyone here treats their PCOS naturally, and if so had any success??

I am currently taking a day:

    Vitex (chaste berry) 1320mg
Paeonia lactiflora (Peony) root 750mg x2
    Rehmannia glutinosa root 500mg x2
Angelica polymorpha (Dong Quai) root 425mg x2
    Cyperus rotundus rhizome 400mg x2
    Ligusticum wallichii root 350mg x2
    Bupleurum falcatum root 350mg x2
Glycyrrhiza uralensis (Licorice) root & stolon 300mg x2
Zingiber officinale (Ginger) rhizome 125mg x2

I am also wondering, if I do fall pregnant taking these, do I stop them straight away? I have read that it can make your progesterone levels suddenly drop causing misscarriage, so I am unsure

Any advice would be great, thanks!

    Hi jodes,

I was taking grape seed extract for my PCOS, and was also advised an alkaline diet was ideal. I was also told to cut out all sugar, but found this very difficult!

Instead I went for the metformin, cheats way out, but I have heard good things of the natural treatment.

Hey Jodes 86. I am taking Chinese herbs but have only bee doing so for 7 weeks. The herbs take a while to build up in your system so if you go this route give it time.
I have also read scientific research that acupuncture is a great option. I live in Singapore at the moment and this form of treatment is very popular. I think every thing can help. I have also started my first round of clomid as I don't want to wait until the herbs take effect but both my western and Chinese Dr do not see that doing both at the same time is an issue.
Fx for good results for you. How are you tracking at the moment ?

I was given chinese herbs by my GP rather than referred to any specialist. A scan showed PCOS which I'd already known about. After that did squat except delay things for a significant period of time I saw another GP and got a referral to an endocrinologist and then fertility specialist. Scan revealed not only that PCOS still very much there, but had become worse over that time and my ovaries were so swollen with cysts that they were down low and touching, and to my knowledge still are. I'm pregnant now but via IVF, which I may have been able to skip if I'd just started conventional treatment (eg metformin and clomid) before it got really bad. I'm p*ssed with the first GP for taking up my precious time, and wouldn't recommend any approach that isn't backed up by science.

I have stopped taking herbs now, as I have seen the gyno & got prescribed Clomid.
Turns out I have polycystic ovaries, not PCOS so fingers crossed Clomid works for me

    They did nothing for me.

What really worked was a low GI diet and sun! I suppose I should sat vit D but I just walked/sat in the sun all the time instead of avoiding it. Made a big difference and it's free!

Hi jodes86. I just came across this post and was curious as I also have polycystic ovaries but not pcos (well my acupuncturist thinks its not pcos, I see my GP on wed to discuss results). I was just wondering what symptoms you had? And were you put on clomid because you weren't ovulating? We have been trying for 8mths. DH has been tested and is perfect. My cycles have been irregular but charting shows I ovulated last 2 cycles so not sure what is going on! Thanks
