    Default Cleaning uncirc boys

As the title suggests, could I please get some advice on when and how to appropriately clean my DS under the foreskin? He's currently 6mths.

DH is circumcised (but made the decision not to with DS) so doesn't really know the 'right' way either.

Please please - this is NOT a debate on the pros/cons! Just after hygiene advice so we also know how to teach him one day too - thanks

DON'T TOUCH IT! It is self cleaning when they are little. If you notice it inflammed or infected take him to a doctor. Eventually when he is older 4-8 years), he will work out how to pull it back himself, at which time you can advise him to give it a good clean with water.

I have been told that you don't pull the skin back to clean until they are 2 years old as apparently the skin is still attached & pulling it back could tear & scar them.....ouch!

I was told to give the area as much attention as you'd give their elbow. Just a swish in the bath is all a penis needs.

Don't attempt to retract the foreskin at all, it's not meant to retract for a number of years and this will naturally occur as the child grows and begins to play with/retract it himself.

Dont pull back even when they are 2yrs old. They will pull it back when they are ready to in the bath. My 4yr old doesnt pull his back that i know of unless he does it while in the bath but i am still unsure as dont pay attention at all.

Leave it til they do it themselves and just wipe over with wash cloth as it is for now.

My son is 3.5 and we've never done anything and it's never looked red or anything.

My son plays with his penis, so I imagine it will become evident when it retracts and he will just clean under the foreskin then.

My partner is not circumcised, and from my understanding the cleaning is not a big issue.

    Ds is 21 months,
I put him in the bath with some tap water, wash his body over with a cloth and done

The penis is self cleaning, no extra attention required
