Hi ladies, OMG I am sooooo soooo sorry for disappearing and being unable to update you all. I've been through hell and back in the last few days but am proud to say that I'm now a mummy to a gorgeous baby son Jayden who arrived Monday 18 March at 8.13am weighing 1.2 kg and 39 cm long. It was an emergency c-section. He was 28 wks 4 days when he was born and now he's in the NICU but doing great!

Things happened so fast and I was soo sick in the days prior. After my waters broke late Thurs last week I got steroid shots on Fri and Sat. I started getting terrible pains in my back area from the late Sat I believe. OB wasn't concerned yet cause he assured me I could last even a few weeks with ruptured membranes. Sunday night I was violently sick with back pain, baby stopped moving.

By Mon morning 6.30am I was in sheer agony, temp up to 38 and nurse called OB. There was no discussion nothing I was told to change and theatre at 7.30am and to get my husband there urgently. Hubby arrived, I was wheeled into theatre, NL said we can't wait longer. I was shaking violently and just about screaming in pain in my back. Anaesthetist said its gotta be a general cause prob infection in my spine and he didn't want to inject into an infected spine.

I was out in seconds, Andrew saw the baby being born. Now the real serious trouble came when they woke me up from the general, he told me congrats it's a boy he's fine but sorry darling must put you to sleep again. I was septic by then and infection right through the uterus went to the lungs and through my whole body. I wasn't able to breathe on my own when he brought me out of the general so he said I'm septic and no family here. Mum got there.

He put me on a breathing machine and I landed unconscious in the adult intensive care for 2 days 2 nights. It was only yesterday I was returned to maternity ward. I freaked out my OB and all the staff who'd known me for over 3 weeks prior. They were so worried how a simple c-section could land me in intensive care.

I'm still in pain from the c-section, temperature high on occasion, coughing and still fighting the infection. So really unwell still. But I have a beautiful son who makes it all worth it )

Sorry again for disappearing and being unable to communicate for these few days but apparently I'm lucky to be alive!

    How is everyone else doing?

    Mary xx

Ladies, I'll be visiting the NICU every day for the next 2 months approx till bub gets to term. If anyone ever wants to catch up for a chat in the Clayton hospital area then would love to meet up )

Our baby is simply a miracle come true. He's perfect in every way and we adore him but its gonna be a long 2 mths till we take him home.
