Mary have you been given much information about what this means?
That perhaps labour could start once your cervix thins more? Or perhaps your waters could break?
I am thinking of you a lot tonight and hoping bub can stay put for a while longer.

Hi Mary, I am sorry to hear that your cervix is down to 9mm. I have everything crossed that it will hold out. Remember that you are doing everything possible that is in your power to keep bub heathy and safe. You are doing a amazing job. Will you please let us know what your OB has to say on Friday.
    Thinking of you Kel. xxx

Girls, Sorry I can't chat for long. Both Foster and Olivia are sick at the moment. Will chat more when they are on the mend. x

Hi ladies, thank you so much for your support, it means so much!! Unfortunately there is really no explanation for an incompetent/ weak cervix, you either have it or you don't. Most of the time you find out after a pregnancy loss and that's how we knew after we lost bub no 1. So the stitch was put in at week 12 this time to hold the cervix and I gotta say its done its job to get me this far. Dr Nick said I had no chance without the stitch. The cervix is shortening which means its all opening up around the stitch. The stitch itself can't tear but the cervix just opens around it. Eventually it does cause the membranes to rupture and if contractions then start then they must remove the stitch. However Dr Nick said that if I was to rupture my membranes then they would immediately start me on steroids to develop baby's lungs, they would try stop any contractions with strong meds and try keep baby inside for further 2-3 weeks. I'm surprised they can keep baby inside even with ruptured membranes but apparently they can. I'd go on antibiotics too to prevent any infection. And of course they monitor you like crazy in such a situation and if any prob they do an emergency c-section. So hopefully worst case scenario we still get to week 30. The main aim at the moment is staying off my feet to prevent the waters breaking for as long as possible. Funny thing is no one knows. You can make it to term with even 2mm of cervix left apparently or it could all just rupture. But the fortnightly decline in my cervix is not giving me much hope. If only it just held for a touch longer. Yes baby would go into the NICU. I know chances of survival at 27 weeks are 95 percent so that's great but what really worries me are lasting health problems which no one wants for their baby. Hope you all don't mind I've answered everyone in one post. Thank you for your kind thoughts and I'm thinking of you all as well

    Mary xx

Mary i am so glad there is a solid plan in place for you. I went into early labour with my first and fourth children both at 32weeks. They hospitalised me and gave me steroids to further develop the lungs and i think it was intravenous ventolin to stop labour. I then made it to term. It is worrying though. And i didnt have the worry of my cervix shortening either. You are doing so well.
Kell, i am sorry to hear you have a couple of sick bubbies. I hope they get better soon.

Kath, did you have to stay in hospital from 32 weeks as well or did they let you go home? I'll be hanging in here as long as I can!

Kel, I hope your babies feel better soon

Kath, my OB was meant up come see me this morning but he didn't turn up. He may have been too tied up with his c-sections in the morning. He'll either come late afternoon today or he tends to be here on the weekends in the mornings too. But I know there's nothing more he can do and it's just a waiting game as to how much longer my cervix will hold the pregnancy. I'm already on meds to stop any contractions just in case. He'll just tell me to keep resting in bed. How much fun!!!

Kel, glad to hear your girls are feeling better. It's no fun at all when that kiddies are sick. Yeah I'm just resting up, not much more I can do hey!!

    Mary xx
