I used boiled kettle water and kept it in a filtered jug so it was always handy.

We boil water in a kettle then put it in just in the fridge.

Sorry, i don't mean to thread crash but this thread reminded me of a question i've had for ages - Is it ok to use bottled/mineral/spring water for bottles. I think i've seen hospitals use distilled water for bottles ? but could be wrong. Advice would be appreciated TIA

Boiled water is best, but in an emergency bottled is better than tap, although the recommendation is still to boil it.

Well distilled water is probably better than boiled water, but it's different to spring water. Boiled water is more than ok to use, and would be cheaper than buying distilled water. Water boiled in a kettle is fine, but I'd store it in a jug not the kettle.

As long as you let the kettle boil until it turns itself off, or to a rolling boil if it doesn't turn itself off, then it's fine.

We boil the kettle when we wash the bottles and then measure the freshly boiled water into bottles. Allow to cool then pop in the fridge.

I was told by the MW it had to be boiled for 10mins.
ETA: Yes definitely the drinking water not for bottle sterilisation - that was 15-20mins.

We've been boiling pots on the stove for months.
