Looks like 'Advocate' is the winner atm.

We've taken all the comments on board and we're in the process of putting together some guidelines, a definition, and coming up with a system for appointing ambassadors/advocates.

So we get it closer to right this time, we're going to spend a bit of time reviewing everything before we put it to you guys for comments. Thanks for your patience to date and we should have something for you in the next couple of days or so.

We've got nominations from those who wish to remain as ambassador/advocates too, so we'll be reviewing that and putting it out there too soon.

    thanks everyone

We've got confirmation from 9 of the current 'ambassadors' that they'd like to stay on in the role of advocate.

We are still finalising a process for 'nominating' for the role. I'm going to post a definition of the role in a minute in here.

I'm also going to remove all those who haven't replied to our contact with them to say that they wish to stay on as Ambassadors/Advocates from the role.

Once we've completed that task and finalised the nomination process, we'll publish the name of advocates for all to see.

Sorry it's taking a while - please bear with us. thx

What name do we give the role?
Most popular suggestion seemed to be Advocate for subject areas and Ambassador for local areas. It’s too difficult in the system to have different names, so we are going to change the title of the role to:

    Bubhub Forum Advocate

(By dictionary definition, an advocate is a supporter, someone who speaks in favour of ..)

    Definition of Role
The role will be to represent the bubhub members who are interested in that subject matter or geographical area by:

    · driving discussions
    · being a go-between with the BH Admin team and the members of that section of the forum, letting the bh admin team know if there are new sections, features that the members need or new services that we should be promoting
    · arranging meet-ups – locally or online (if requested by members)

    Choosing Advocates
I believe that this should be a volunteer role. It’s a labour of love, so a member needs to be passionate about making a difference and taking the role on. Anything less and the chances are that the the novelty of the role may fade after the first couple of weeks.

I think that members should be able to put themselves forward as this may result somebody coming forward who we may not have thought of and who ends up doing a great job.

Members can also nominate somebody, who we then email to see if they are interested in taking the role on

However, as Advocates will be representing the members, the members should have a say in who gets the roles of advocates and who gets to keep the roles.

This is the tricky bit! We are trying to work out a system for this where comments about potential advocates are not made in open forum. There are always a minority of members in all walks of life who use open comment to humiliate others and we don't want the nomination of advocates to turn into a popularity contest or a witch hunt. But we need members to be able to have a say - so we're just working this bit out!!
