If it were me I'd stick with the traditional spelling.
WE DID. this post is 6 months old as I said before we named her MaDDison
I don't think 2 D's look right and would probably think, "Hmmm... wonder if that person knows how to spell?" if I saw it. That said, not nearly as bad as Madysen or Madisyn or whatever other crazy things people come up with in the name of being "unique."
Our little angel is Maddison! It's such a gorgeous name!
