I have had massive lower back pain throughout my whole pregnancy so far (i'm now 27 weeks) the only relief i got was when i started physio... I was so bad at one point i couldn't walk!! I definately recommend a good physio who can massage and manipulate your back and give you strengthening exercises to do.

I have had back and pelvic pain for my last 2 pregnancies and I found that physio helped considerably but I also relied on an electric heat pad for my back. I would sit in the couch with my feet up and have the heat pad right on the sore part as often as possible.
I would limit it to about half an hour at a time hough so I didn't overheat my kidneys or anything.
Good luck, back pain sucks :-(
