Floradix also has fruit juices in it which aids in it being non-constipative.

Also has vitamin C which increases iron absorption and B vitamins which go hand in hand with iron deficiency.

    I'm a big fan!

Ok the pharmacy had ferr-something?! Was not ferro-gad though. Side effects on the bottle were a laxative effect and diarrohea.
Not too keen on that..that was one to drink.

They also had fefol (sp?) which was a slow release supplement.

Think I better ask my OB? I haemorraghed (sorry sp again!) last baby for an extended time so would like to make sure I keep on top of my iron levels this time. Would a slow release be better?
I may just order floradix online

I took Ferro Grad C recommended by a Dr in the hospital for 5 months after needing a blood transfusion which resulted in very low iron, it took 5 months for me to feel better again. I drank a glass pear juice daily to counteract any constipation issues.

It might also be good idea to eat iron rich foods and vitamin C rich foods together for maximum absorption on a daily basis. I also did this on a midwife's advice, I ate a lot of beef and vegetable stirfrys with cashews, steak, dried apricots etc

Why don't you just go buy some spatone and a bottle of nice juice and see what you think? Worst case you don't like it & spent $20 for nothing. Only one way to find out...

Spatone is fantastic!!! It does taste like... Metal. Open up a sachet, down it fast and have a glass of orange, pineapple or apple juice ready to down it straight after. It's really not that bad that way because you don't taste it. It absorbs quicker and there's no constipation.

Wow that sounds like the hard way! I just add it to either orange or cranberry juice, and I usually drink it with dinner.

Can't even tell its in there! DH has even had a sip (he didn't know it was in it) and couldn't tell.

Mixing the spatone with juice sounds very do-able! Will have to get pharmacy to order in though - have asked my OB too
