    Default Boy name (Due July)

    Hi Everyone..

DP and i have very different opinions on boy names...i work in early childhood and have done for 15 years, so would like something a little different... Whereas DP likes plain and simple names...

    My name selections:
Harvey, Walter, Wilbur, Seamus, Ralph, Atticus, Baxter, Griffin, Wesley, Spencer, Cash (love but can't see myself calling it out at the playground)

    DP's suggestions:
Ben, Michael, Glenn, Pete, Steve, Harry

Name's we kind of agree on but don't both love:
    Max, Ollie/Oliver, Andy

Any suggestions would be helpful... oh and the middle name would be Murray.

    Thanks in advance
    A

I'd personally avoid the same end sound for first and middle names - ie Harvey Murray. Also the same starting letter - Mike Murray, but I'm a bit pernickety that way.

I love Seamus, Atticus, Griffen and Spencer from your list.

    What about
    Phineas
    Tennyson
    Sullivan
    Tobias
    Benedict
    Oscar
    Bruno
    Arlo

I really like Baxter. It was top of our list had dd2 been a boy.

Another name I really liked was Bennett. So a little different when pronounced in full but shortened to a nice conventional "Ben" for your DH!

    Good luck!

Thanks for the ideas... but DP thinks those names are far too out there for his liking... it really needs to be something simple for him!

Can I respectfully offer a suggestion?
I think James Murray combines with your surname well.
It isn't too off the wall for DH and hopefully not common enough for you to have a daycare terror with the same name

Harvey - umm, no. I couldn't name a little boy this.
Walter - its ok, but a very serious type of name for a baby
    Wilbur - nope! Its a pig's name!
    Seamus - its ok
    Ralph - its ok
    Atticus - oh gosh, no
    Baxter - ok
    Griffin - not bad
Wesley - I like this one
Spencer - I really love this one!
Cash - hmmm, I like it but it is a difficult one

    DP's suggestions:
Ben - why not suggest Benjamin, then nickname it to Jamin? Benny? Benjy?
Michael, Glenn, Pete, Steve, Harry- I don't mind these, Steve is my fav.
    Max - it has possibilities
Ollie/Oliver - I really dislike this name, but that is just personal
Andy - I like this one!

It sounds like you and DH are going to have real trouble. Your naming ideas are completely different!

Im starting to think we're both too fussy and aren't going to get anywhere...

Ja78 - thanks for the suggestion of James - but it doesn't work for either of us... still too common for me, and DP just screws his nose up!? lol

RoseKathleen - sounds like you and my DP have similar tastes in names.. unfortunately i can't do the names he's asking so we're back to the drawing board - but thanks for your feedback on our individual tastes in names.. i know my names aren't the standard usual names that everyone would be used to and like...

Back to the drawing board... please please please keep ideas coming for me...the names I've listed are definitely 'no' - as we don't like each other's names so we really don't have anything at this stage... i think we're going to have to stop soon and take a break?! Luckily we're only 23 weeks on Monday!

From the names your DP likes I only really like Harry. Michael and Ben are ok but Glenn, Pete and Steve all seem a bit boganish to me!!

I'm not really a fan of any of your names TBH!! Wilbur and Ralph?!?!

From the names you BOTH agree on I like Max. Maybe to 'go' with the style of the names you like you could use Maxwell with a nn of Max??

    Some other suggestions:

    Lawson
    Archer
    Jude
    Henry
    Nathaniel - nn Nate
    Elijah - nn Eli
    Flynn
Robert - nn Bob, Bobby, Rob
    Isaac
    George
    Samuel

Lawson.. i like.. not common at all, quite different... but you guessed it not for DP
Archer, Flynn, Isaac, Robert, George, Samuel all too common
Jude, Nathaniel, Elijah - not a fan...

Why not use Henry? I'm sure DPs Dad would be stoked.
