Default To wax or not to wax.....

I am due in 4 weeks and am contemplating a full brazillian for birth. But need some suggestions and help.

I have always just kept it all neat and tidy with a razor and never had any problems but wanting an opinion as to preffered options for birth and also when to do it.

Honestly, I would just keep doing the tidy up like before. The staff have seen it all before so really, whatever you do is for your own comfort only.

I did a basic tidy up with an electric lady shaver before I gave birth, mainly so that I had minimal hair there when bleeding post birth.

I had two brazillians before my bub was born, one at about 30 weeks and one at about 36 weeks.

They hurt WAY more than they normally do being pregnant. Not quite sure if it is because you're more sensitive down there at that time???

I did it for my own comfort and I did find that it was easier to clean myself after the birth during the few weeks of bleeding that follows.

If you normally just shave, I'd just continue to do that as you can get nasty in-growns from waxing the first few times and you wouldn't want that on top of healing from giving birth and having a newborn to look after

I second the hurting WAAAY more when pregnant. I regularly get waxes but when pregnant only had one as the pain was too much for me to want to do it again. I just kept it tidy with the razor etc, and it was fine.

Ouch! For me personally, NO WAY!!

If you are considering it, I think you need to ask yourself, why? If the answers have anything to do with anyone else, than I really don't think it's a good idea.

Just keep doing what you're doing. When it comes to giving birth, thinking about what it looks like is the last thing on your mind and midwives and dr's see it everyday and wouldn't give a hoot. I just maintained as normal with a razor and went 3 weeks early so had to go 'as is'.

I got waxed about 1-2 weeks before bubs arrived and highly recommend it, if you can handle the pain (yes it does hurt more while pregnant, but over in 10mins).

I didn't give a hoot about what other people thought, it was for my own benefit post-birth. I'm so glad I did too as apart from the bleeding, I also ended up with a 3rd degree tear and episi. It was so much easier to keep clean and dry IMO - but everyone's different!

Sooo glad I did. Had nothing to do with hospital support staff seeing a bit of hair down there (!?) and everything to do with keeping the site clean - as I also had tons of stitches which were painful and difficult to keep clean. Will definitely do again for next bub.
