    Default Vitex!

Can anyone share their success story using Vitex?

I have started taking it this month in the hope that my cycle may regulate a little bit and we have more success TTC.

I had irregular cycles and would have short luteal phases from ovulation to menstruation so did some research and started taking B Vitamin Complex, as I couldn't find vitex (can't have looked very hard) Anyway this was about 8 months into ttc #3 and I couldn't understand why I couldn't get pregy as it only took 3 months to get DD and we weren't ttc for DS, so was very frustrated when it wasn't happening. Anyway after about 3 months taking the B vits I finally got my BFP after 11 months of trying, and am meeting my bubba in 4 weeks time
    Good luck with it

Opinions vary on how long to take it. Some say to stop after ovulation, others say to take it all the way through and wean when you get a BFP.

I had 3 (I think. Was a while ago and too lazy to go look it up) very short cycles - 20ish days and a friend put me onto it. I just got the Blackmores tablets. I then had a 38 day cycle (I think. It was long anyway!) and the next cycle we got a BFP.

I weaned myself off it (a tablet every 2-3 days for a week, then 4 days etc) and was fine, though did have a couple of bleeds. But whether that was the Vitex I don't know as I've bled with all my pregnancies (3) and only lost 1 baby. My friend did the same but lost her baby. Again, may or may not have been the Vitex as she has also had a previous loss like me.

Do some reading and decide what you are comfortable with. Some sites will link it to miscarriage if taken after Ovulation, others won't. You need to do what you feel comfortable with.

It's great to regulate cycles, you do need to take it for a few months to let it get into your system..

Also try Macca root powder.. Very good for fertility and regulating!

    Good luck!!

I am taking it for high prolactin levels caused by a medication I was taking. I read that high doses (1000mg a day) are best for reducing high prolactin and encouraging ovulation. Whereas lower doses (30mg daily) may increase prolactin levels. I think a medium level of 300-400mg daily is best for general menstrual problems with no prolactin issues. But google it to be sure!!!

4 months after DD we decided to try for #2, but with 3 irregular cycles so far, I decided to be proactive bout the whole situation and started taking vitex till after ovulation as well as evening primrose oil capsules until the same time.

We were hoping for a boy so I was tracking my cycles and everything like that.

And after just ONE cycle on vitex BFP!!

Just found out today at our 20 wk scan that we are also expecting our little boy

So Vitex all the way I say

I took vitex (600mg I think) every day from first day of period until ovulation for three months. This was in addition to normal pregnancy vitamins. I started because luteal phase was short and previous mc.

First month nothing. Second month was tracked with average hormone levels and one follicle but short luteal with spotting at 10 dpo despite progesterone suppositories. Third month high estrogen, huge LH spike, two follicles with another close behind and high progesterone post O. Then BFP! Still going well at 6 weeks with nice HCG levels and good doubling times.

I think it works for me!
