Yes. A good friend of my mothers. He has a beautiful daughter and his new partner is like a second dad to her.

My aunt did this. she was married for 20 years and had 4 kids. She got divorced when she was 44 and married another woman.
Most of the family are okay with it, a few oldies didnt really understand and didnt go to her wedding but she didnt let that bother her.The way she saw it, she had done her job and raised her kids, and now it was time for herself. She said she had known she was a lesbian for the last 8 years but was too ashamed to do anything about it and felt it was her duty to keep quiet. Then her husband became abusive she decided it was the perfect time to leave. She doesnt regret not doing it sooner. She said she needed her kids to be at an age were they would understand.

    Yes, DH's aunt.
Not sure what advice you're after, and obviously I don't know their whole story. But from my distant perspective it looked like that instead of just establishing her new life she turned her back on the old one, leaving the teenage daughters feeling lost and rejected. Took a number of years and the death of the father before mother and daughters reestablished their relationship.

Yes, a friend's mum. Her husband died and a year or two later she started seeing a woman. They are very happy. Apart from being surprised (which is to be expected) all of her friends and family were very supportive and welcomed her new partner into the family.

Yeah my cousin. Years after her divorce (more than a decade) she started seeing another woman. They've been together about ten years now.

I know several people who've been in this situation. All very happy now and their families are too.
