Default Buyers agent... Has anyone used one before?

I was just wondering if anyone had used a buyers agent before.

Did you find they were useful? Are they worth the money and how did they charge, ie was it percentage based or sliding scale flat fee.

Thanks in advance to anyone that answers!

Not personally, but a friend has. They were looking for a place to buy and spent the best part of 2 years going to open homes every weekend.
They spent close to 1.5 million and I think the buyers agent cost about $50k, but I'm not sure of the exact figures. They wish they had engaged a buyers agent when they started looking.

I think they generally charge a percentage of the purchase price.

I haven't used one but i would love to be one!
