Hi ladies Is it okay if I join you on this thread? I'm due to do a fresh cycle with EPU early May sometime and then a second fresh cycle probably 2 months after that to try and get enough embryos to test due to the $$$. I lost a little girl when I was 15 weeks pregnant with Trisomy 18 and am terrified of having another pregnancy with trisomy or another problem so am doing CGH. The scientific director at my Clinic told me that at 40-41, 90% of embryos are abnormal so not sure I will even get any to transfer (I only get 2-4 eggs each time) but you have to try right! Not sure yet what I'll do if I don't get any normal embryos. I haven't allowed myself to think too much about donor eggs yet. The waiting list in Perth is huge and also we have very strict regulations about importing.

April and Scarlet - congratulations on your testing results. You must be over the moon

Scruffy - glad you're kicking back taking it easy. Fingers crossed for a lovely BFP after your 2WW is over

    Hi to everyone else

Hi wishmeluck! Of course it is fine to join in. I batched my cycles cause I don't get many to biopsy stage either, so I was very surprised to get 4 normal after so many abnormals. I was told the same thing about 80-90% normal over the age of 40, but you can only try. At least with the testing you will know one way or another that when you get a transfer it is chromosomally normal.

I am from Perth too, but did my cycles in Sydney. April is from Perth also.

With donors, I know when I first started cycling, I did not think I could use a donor egg, but as I wen through the cycles, it came more appealing. Finding out more about epigenetics was helpful also.

I know of someone who is getting donor eggs in South Africa, so other countries is an option. If I hadn't just done 5 cycles in the past 10 months, I was thinking of doing a donor cycle before transferring my frozen embryo, but physically I don't think it would be good on my body right now, the last 2 cycles really kicked it about.

    I'm a Perth girl too!

We must also all be at the same clinic, as there is only one that does CGH

Welcome Wish, so sorry to hear about your little girl. I know we decided to go to CGH to avoid the possibility genetic issues. We could have winged it without doing the testing but I didn't think emotionally I would cope with finally getting my dream then losing it. I think you are very strong Let's hope you get a couple of nice big batches to test

Scruffy I had wondered if they were the only ones with CGH. We have probably crossed paths with bloods and u/s etc!

Just wondering if Perths clinic are doing the culture trial? At Sydney you get asked if you want to do it, I did with the second batch and had better results.

Wish I was thinking about you all night and forgot to suggest DHEA, it made all the difference for me, I am sure of it!

    Hi Ladies,

Congratulation April on getting 2 good ones I hope everything goes well in the next month or so.

Scarlet that's fantastic news I really hope you never have to go through IVF again too!

Wishmeluck you might like to consider going overseas for egg donation there are programs in South Africa and Spain with high success rates. I really hope you get a transfer though.

Scruffy there are a couple of clinics that do HCG testing in Perth, Hollywood and Fertility Specialist WA. I hope you get your BFP, it's a good idea to kick back and relax and stay away from the evil POAS.

AFM - I have decided not to do the testing and have moved on to plan B. It felt right for us and I felt relieved once I made the decision. I am looking forward to moving onto the next part of our journey. I would like to keep reading this thread however to see how you girls do. I really hope it's a lot of BFP's.

    Hi everyone

Thanks so much for the warm welcome. I'm at Concept. I didn't know that any clinics in Perth were actually doing the CGH here. I thought about switching Clinics to Hollywood because someone told me they do, but I was later told that although some Perth Clinics do the biopsy of your embryos here, that they actually fly the cells to an interstate clinic to do the CGH part? Does this sound right? Concept are sending my biopsied cells to Melb IVF and they charge $4,800 (though they charge their own clients $3,000) Shame I can't just do my cycles here and carry my frozen embryos as carry-on luggage to Melb!!! I'm sorry I haven't read back far enough but wondered whether people are doing Day 3 or Day 5 testing? Maybe because of the distance factor, my Clinic are only doing Day 3 at this stage.

My embryos must be a bit deceptive because they actually look really good at Day 3 (or at least last cycle they did) I had 3 Grade A embryos so they decided to grow them out and 2 made it to blastocyst - one of which was my little girl. I have the other on ice, but am too scared to use it just yet and my clinic said that even if they were able to do day 5 biopsies at the Clinic that they wouldn't get the results back quickly enough for transfer. So not sure if egg quality is the issue or just that I was unlucky last time. Either way, the risk of chromosomal stuff is too high for me to feel comfortable at my age so will persevere down the CGH path and donate a kidney to pay for it.

Summershine - I have looked into donor eggs over the last couple of days and that's certainly something that I think I would now consider. I just wish WA would change it's really strict criteria for importing gametes!!! I may have to move to Qld!!! I'm bound to Concept because I'm using donor sperm from their sperm bank (Mr Right has a very slow horse)! Unfortunately, the waiting lists are too long at other Clinics at this stage for me to move. All the very best for your Plan B.

Scarlet - thank you for your advice about DHEA. I was prescribed it last year and took it for 5 months and it may or may not have lead to my improved cycle second time around. I haven't gone back on it (much) but am taking lots of other vitamins and minerals to help with the quality too. I read somewhere that DHEA can actually lower your FSH too much and that sometimes you don't respond as well. Not sure how accurate that is, but may account for why it doesn't work for some ladies and works terrifically for others I haven't heard about the culture trial?

Scruffy - Hope the 2WW isn't driving you too crazy.

OK, must get back to work.

    Happy Thursday everyone.

    Hi Ladies,

Sorry to be MIA. Needed some time away from BH after my failed cycle, and had the perfect distraction with our nieces from QLD coming down to stay with us for 1 week in the school hols

Scruffy- Your TWW must be nearly over? I hope you've seen 2 lovely lines on a POAS by now! Or if you've been strong & resisted, I hope the BT result is a roaring BFP

Scarlet- WOW! All 4 embies being normal is amazing!! Massive congrats darl . Are you doing a FET straight away?

April- Congrats on your 2 perfect embies! I hope AF has showed her face and your FET cycle is underway.

Wishmeluck- How heartbreaking to hear you lost your little girl . Welcome aboard the CGH train, we will probably be cycling quite close together! Fingers crossed for a great batch of normal embies

Summershine- glad to hear you have a Plan B and have made peace with your decision. Best of luck with your future cycles

Wise- how are things going with you? Any closer to knowing when your embies will be thawed & grown to day 5 for testing?

AFM- Gosh, I didn't realise I was surrounded by Perth girls in here! When I was little I spent 3 yrs living in Mandurah, so Perth is very close to my heart.

As mentioned above, we had our nieces (12 & 10 yrs old) for a week and had a blast showing them around Sydney. We also took them to the Royal Easter show & spent a bomb on carnival ride coupons . Not being UTD meant I could go on all the good adrenalin-pumping ones, and that's exactly what I did!

Got my FS appt this coming Thurs, and hope to be jabbing by the end of the month. Looks like May will be an action-packed month for our thread! Can'y wait for the BFPs to start rolling in

Hi Lindy, good to see you back :-)

Well this TWW sucks big time. Family day out yesterday with all my nieces and nephews and my sister with her big bump just made me think how much I'll be devastated if this doesn't work. Today I'm in floods of tears because I'm convinced it hasn't worked, I feel like my period is coming and boobs very deflated like before every period :-(

Sorry for the me post, decided to have a day in bed and pray that Weds blood test proves me wrong!

    Thanks Lindy but it's tomorrow!

Actually I already know it's over. Felt so miserable all day yesterday and knew it hadn't worked so caved and POAS this morning and BFN.

Feeling pretty low at the moment, 3 perfect embies for the last 3 transfers and nothing to show for it. Have spent a restless night googling 'repeated implantation failure'. Need to chat to the FS to see what else can be done for the next FET???
