Default Brisbane Teacher Aides or Teachers, please help!

    Hi all,
I am about to finish my Cert 3 in Education Support (only two subjects to go, yay!) and was wondering how I go about getting a job once I have my qualification. I will be looking for work in primary schools.
Do I just hand my resume in at different schools? What sort of things will they be looking for on a resume apart from my qualification?

I was also wondering what the pay rate actually is for teacher aides and how many hours a week you guys usually get.

I'm also a bit worried if they place me with an older primary grade as most of my voc placement has been with lower primary (prep - yr 2). Is what we have to do with the upper grades much different?

I'm so excited to finish my study and start work, I hope it isn't too hard to come by a job!

Thank you for any help in advance xxx

Have you though about doing some voluntary work at a school to give you some more experience. I know the school where my son goes has asked for some ppl to put in resumes to add to their list of aides. Just keep putting resumes in I'm sure something will come up.

I agree with cakester69. Do some voluntary work at schools to get your foot in the door. My friend finished over 12 months ago and still doesn't have any work. She has just started voluntary work after talking to one of the schools, as they will hire people doing voluntary work in the school first.
