A short while ago, we took in a cat. She looked lost, but very loved. Her fur is beautiful and soft, she has a pretty diamante collar with a chain dangling from it with a diamante letter. She is very friendly. Her photo and general area was posted on fb groups and at vet clinics. She is desexed but not microchipped. When I found out last week that the owners moved to a 'no pet' home, they simply left her behind. They were contacted by former neighbours to find out what their plans were and basically said that it's hard enough finding a rental with a low income and lots of kids without throwing in pets as well.
I have just found out she is 4 (vet guessed 2 to 4) but I have also discovered now that she is coming into the bedrooms and on the furniture I am allergic to her!
I know the rules when selling a cat over 8 weeks it has to be microchipped, but what about rehoming a stray? Will I have to microchip her first? And will my details have to be on it then the new owners change it?
She is a persian/burmese cross, very pretty and fixed up, so it shouldn't take too long to find her a new home. But what can we do for now? She's just getting comfortable here and now I have to keep her out of bedrooms.
Any suggestions on how to deal with allergies for this time, and advice on microchipping?
