    Default Spilt oil in pantry-help

I've just noticed a layer of olive oil on my pantry shelf that has dried. I have just finished pulling boxes off the shelf, which all ripped as they were well and truly stuck. How do I clean it up? It's like hard toffee!

I would try hot soapy rags. Lay it on top for a few minutes and try to wipe. rinse and repeat.

The salt softened it so I was able to scrape it off with a spatula and then soapy water to clean it up.

    Thanks.
