    Seriously.

If you want to have a serious conversation stop cherry picking, please.

How many times has it been said that things in the bible can be taken metaphorically!?
    But this can't?

I'm not 'suggesting' this is what is in the way of gay rights... It IS what is in the way... poeple are fighting AGAINST it using the 'sanctity of marriage' as back up.
No they use the 'institution' of marriage as their reason. Marriage has always been between a man and a woman, it's how 'marriage' is identified. I think alot of people see it this way and it has nothing to do with religion.
This is why I think it's a political issue, it's not just about religion, it's the institution, how's it's identified by people.

When it's about marriage in a 'church' then it becomes a religious argument.

it has 'always been between a man and a woman' in Christian beleifs..

it has everything to do with religion.

    religion shapes societies.

Marriage s 'identified' this way in Australian Culture because we are a "christian nation"

There is a box that needs to be looked outside of.

    You are wrong.

    please look outside your box.

I'm sorry - but this just shows you have no respect for other religions or other cultures.

thanks, and yes it was the thread i was talking about.
where we were asked to post OUR opinions,
not constantly quote other people's and disagree with them.

as you can see i have not quoted any of share a books (or others) remarks as i believe everyone is entitled to their own opinion. that is what i believe a forum to be.....post your opinion and read others thoughts.

I don't know what you're specifically talking about but I agree with this. Its sad that others don't feel the same. Its like people have to always prove why they are 'right' and others are 'wrong', rather than sometimes there isn't a right and wrong, just a difference in opinions.
