That's sort of what I was alluding to in my above post- that if you started a chat for Christians, I'd imagine it would only be posted in by Christians. It's only when a topic is posted in the general chat area, not specifically directed at Christians, that debate happens, and then collapses into name calling and childish arguments.

So I wonder why people feel the need to do that?

There is no way I would post in a Christian support thread, despite what others might think.

I would never, ever, EVER debate a topic in a support thread - never. I've seen them on the hub before and didn't even enter them.

The thread I was debating in was in the ***general chat*** area. I actually doubt anyone would debate in a support thread, I haven't seen it on here before, and I've seen some pretty nasty stuff on here in my time.

I think it should be ok. There used to be one with no issue. I don't see why it can't be done again.

It would have to be worded far more carefully than I am probably vapable of, and have a disclaimer, when in reality when people post when in need of support, they are less likely to word it exactly right and remember the disclaimer.

    Start thread>> "Christian Chat"

OP>> somewhere we can chat/learn/explore etc

..then wait for something to chat about.

I can't see why anyone who wasn't Christan would enter SAB, seriously.

Yes, for a general christian chat that would be easy, but I mean when someone wants support at any given time and puts it in here, it would be a terrible idea unless it's worded exactly right and has a disclaimer. I've seen it in the single parent section time and time again, but the mods are onto it there. If anyone is rude or unsupportive the posts are edited or removed. It doesn't seem worth it in this section, that's all. Someone needing support is not going to be up to questions or name calling.

A simple statement like "Supportive comments only" would suffice?

I think most members know when people genuinely want support, or if it is a thread that can be debated upon...

Can you give any examples of a thread in here that may be misinterpreted?

Honestly? A thread with 'Christian chat' or 'Christian support chat' won't attract people who wish to discuss/debate evolution vs. creationism. Support threads on here are always very supportive.
