Hi everyone. Been offline from BH for a little while....DPs visits home are an absolute whirlwind these days...last weekend we were involved in DIY projects; building gates, fences etc.

So how is everyone going? I feel like Im so out of touch after a week and a half of no BH!! Bella - how did Thursday go?

    AFM
Not much happening with me at the moment. Started my spring cleaning today, as I know I wont feel like it when I come back pregnant!!

Donor had her screening tests on Wednesday, so FS is now working on my treatment plan....FN says I should have it on Monday. Once we have our treatment plan, we can book our flights, WOOHOO!!

    Sunny that is so exciting!!

    Mrs P how you going?

It was declared I had had a complete MC which is good no surgery.

I was however asked again why I was doing IVF was it my first cycle and was it my first loss!

Um my hubby is in a wheelchair it's my 6th transfer and you delivered my sleeping baby in November and have the other 4 miscarriages on file as well as this latest one - really read the stupid file!

I feel like I am getting punked when a medical professional does this I don't expect them to know me by name or my history off by heart but I so expect them to read the history on my file briefly and re acquaint themselves.

I really resent our lack of options here in cairns! On the upside the short and long of my life is
went to nitro circus lost 5.6kg am training like a demon going camping at tinaroo made an appointment to see WDA in July hubbie needs SCSA and Sperm Chromosome Study done and we want to bank some junk for just in case he is unable to deliver on day of EPU book out dates for cycle and pick up mess for start late August when back from Perth. I want to discuss egg quality and increasing it etc. go over some things that almost went of my head.

So that's me I want to drop another 10kg the first 5 no worries the next 5 will be harder but we can do anything!!

Hope your all well ladies enjoy the long weekend next week

Bella - Fantastic news it was a complete MC...at least thats one thing to work in your favour....AT LAST! Geez, nearly 6 kilos is great...I wish I was having that type of success, but I seem to have come to a halt and my weight is up and down from week to week....got a feeling that hormones are making their presence known! Bit disappointed in Dr W not reviewing your file....you would think that is basic stuff, especially considering your treatment history with him...bad form really.

Domiffy - I read on another thread that you are PUPO....congratulations hun. Hope you are feeling well. How did the cycle go for you?

MrsP - How are you travelling?

MusicalGal - Whats happening....are your hormones not playing the game?

Amps - Have you started your plethora of pills and potions yet?

Blue - How is hubby now? How are you?

8shan8 - Where are you upto?

    Everyone else...hope you are well.

Sunny thanks for asking after me, you are always so thoughtful... Fantastic to hear your donor had such as great response - you are so very close now. It is your time now girl so get that house nice and clean while you can. BTW will you do a SET or DET? I read about Micca’s BFP on the over 40s thread, so happy for her, and it must be wonderfully encouraging for you to hear at this stage of the game. Full blow by blow description of my cycle down below... be warned though its loooong!

Musicalgal re your question a while back about accommodation in Brisbane we
have stayed a couple of times at the Meriton Apartments on Adelaide Street about a 15 min walk to WDA’s rooms and a $10 cab ride to Spring Hill Specialist Day Hospital, 10 minute walk to Chinatown (yum!) and train station and 2 min walk to Woolies around the corner. The one bed apartments are nicely appointed (uncomfortable couches though), lovely master bedroom, kitchenettes, rooms have amazing views (particularly if you are on a high floor), apartments are very quiet and you get 1GM of free WIFI per day. I managed to snag a great deal this time round through Booking.com at $396 for 4 nights – but room rates fluctuate wildly depending on their occupancy rate as I wanted to extend my stay for a couple of days (changed my mind and did a 5dt instead of a 3dt) but occupancy was 99% and price had gone up to almost $400 per night so had to change accomm. The good thing about Booking.com is that you don’t have to pay up front and can change and cancel a booking up to three days in advance which is great when you are not 100% on what dates you will need to be there but still want to lock down a cheap rate. For the extra 2x nights I found accomm across the road at The Hub Apartments for $130 pn which I would also recommend. Free wifi, kitchenette, balcony, nicely appointed, very helpful and accommodating management, the only downside was that there was a lot more street/road noise, especially as I was only on level 2. HTH and good luck with your cycle. BTW Kate WDA’s nurse organised all of my scans on my behalf locally with Bob Miller and I haven’t have to pay anything. Sending good vibes your way today for perfect baseline bloods.

Mrs P Hi there… thanks again for all your encouragement and cheers from the sidelines on the other thread. Hope everything is ticking along nicely for you.

Bella glad to hear that you have had no complications following the miscarriage and that you are focussing on your health and well being – good for the mind and body. This s*&t is hard enough to deal with and being in the best physical shape possible before getting back on the treadmill is, in my opinion, one of the best things you can do.

Amps Iherb sounds great, thanks for the tip – I will have to check them out. Lord knows I need to save a few $$$ somewhere, I think GoVita could just about retire on what I’ve spent on supplements there over the last couple of years. Also, you asked a while ago about the CF testing. QFG really seem to encourage it so we did it recently but afterwards I felt like it was a waste of $250 as if I should ever make it far enough along in pregnancy I will be doing an amnio at which point CF would be picked up anyway. That’s just my 2 cents worth. Good luck with new FS.

Hi 8shan8, Blue and everyone else out there...

AFM Here goes… I warn you it’s a long… I had EPU with WDA last Monday and I am now PUPO with 2x5 day morulas. TBH so far this has been my worst cycle ever. Baseline bloods were great for me – FSH 5, LH 8, E2 97, Prog 2.4. Bloods during stims were text book all the way through with E2 rising nicely during the cycle to 10500 at trigger and LH and Progesterone where they should be… I was expecting 6 eggs, 4 were retrieved, 1x fertilised abnormally, 2x were immature but fertilised late in the day, can’t remember what happened to number 4. Oh and I had 2x empty follicles which I’ve never had before. Empty follicles is a bit of a misnoma as apparently no follicles are empty it is just whether the egg will detach from the foll wall not. Sometimes they don’t detach because they are abnormal but sometimes it is because they are not mature enough. Anyhoo… I had high hopes for 6 eggs or even a little more given that I usually get 1 follicle per 1000 estrogen but high stims result no better than previous cycles on 250 and 300iu of gonal f and a #*?"load more stim drugs for my body to deal with and although WDA does not believe that high levels of stims impact egg quality I have read plenty of info to the contrary. But of course I must also acknowledge the fact that as we all hear ad infinitim fertility declines at warp speed in the over 40s so FS can only do so much.

As I’ve mentioned on another thread it’s possible I was triggered too early and that is a risk when cycling remotely in Cairns as WDA’s decision as to when to trigger is based on someone else’s interpretation of follicle size on an ultrasound.
Also, I posted on the AACEP thread and am repeating my concerns here about the suitability of the stim drugs prescribed for me. This time round I used 600iu Menopur and as I’d not used Menopur before I did a little reading and was concerned the Menopur was not the best drug fit for me as it is not recommended for PCO and there has been a question mark over whether I am PCO due to a well documented history of high LH to FSH ratio (double or triple my FSH which is a symptom of PCO) and irreg periods. I also had early lutenisation with a huge LH spike at day 5 of my Dec cycle last year which almost led to its cancellation. WDA actually commented that he would have cancelled this cycle had he been my FS at the time so he was aware of my LH issues during the initial consult…

I contacted WDA the day after my consult to let him know I was concerned the extra LH in the Menopur could compromise my egg quality and that in my case maybe Gonal F would be a better idea. To his credit he took my concerns on board and offered to take back the Menopur and swap for Gonal F… but after agreeing to this he rang me back a short time later to say that unfortunately as the drugs had left the building they could not be returned to QFG but I could pay for Gonal F out of my own pocket if I wanted to use it instead. I was upset but talked to my DP, slept on it and decided to give the Menopur a go and stop second guessing the FS. WDA rang back the following morning to say he would personally pay for the drugs if I really wanted to return the Menopur to his office and use Gonal F instead, I appreciated his offer which showed a great deal of integrity but by this stage my partner and I had decided to give the Menopur a try.

TBH if I get a BFN this cycle I won't be cycling again with WDA but am glad I’ve given it a shot. I will of course happily eat crow if I do by some miracle end up with the a BFP. There is so much positivity surrounding this FS and I am delighted for the success so many others have had with him - I have certainly read many inspiring and wonderful stories on BH and I dearly wish you ladies who will be/are cycling with WDA – Mrs P, Musicalgal and Bellavista - every success but I will be going back to CFC in Cairns as I feel their approach has been more tailored to me as an individual and that their processes and procedures are better eg: sperm is collected at the time of egg collection instead of it sitting around for a couple of hours beforehand as with QFG, better individualised care as they are smaller and not as busy - you should have seen the recovery room at QFG after EPU last week – talk about a cattle call (but I guess it is testament to his popularity)! Less room for EPU timing error by only dealing directly with one FS, and of course less stress and cost by not having to travel back and forth to Brisbane during the cycle.

But at the end of the day who really knows if any of it makes a difference – if it’s a quality embryo (with the exception of immune/implantation issues and adequate luteal support) it will stick - I will take what I have learned from WDA, discuss with old FS and incorporate what I/we feel is worthwhile. I hope this post doesn’t come across as too negative but I have learnt so much from others and feel obliged to give back.

Bella, - You sound very busy. It's great to hear. I'm so glad you had no further complications. And I hope you had a nice (for want of a better word), reflective day on your DD .

Sunny, - How did you go today with the phone call for your schedule? Are you super excited?

Dom, - I so very much hope that WDA has been able to work his magic, and this one works for you. I hope your little ones are getting snuggled in as we speak. .

AFM, - I'm CD7 of a cycle on the bench. Just taking my DHEA and melatonin and hoping that they can do their job. I'm starting to lose a little extra hair atm which I don't like. I'm also noticed that since AF my skin is spottier and my scalp gets greasy quickly, - Ugh! I'm hoping that we can start next cycle but it's all dependant on DH's work, - Another Ugh!
Anyway, that's me... I hope everyone else is doing well.

P.S. Dom, - Where did you get your scans done, if you don't mind me asking?

    MrsP...

Wow-Thanks for the download Domiffy. Some interesting food for thought in there, and definitely worth taking on board. We're pretty much in the same situation (Minus the pco) and I'm about to embark on menopur, cycling remotely and transfer in Brissie. I can see all that u said. .. the under reaction to menopur, the problems with someone else doing scans etc. I guess we have to give it a try though right? This is the final go for us with my own eggs. And we just weren't getting anywhere where cfc. However I do miss the convenience of everything being done under the same roof as well as the personalised service from the nurses etc.

But we're here now. So here goes. Finally got the go ahead after a stressful weekend and run around for more testing today. So had 4 injections tonight. Started with menopur, clexane, saizen and Lucrin still going from a cpl of weeks ago. As well as the plethora of pills and supps.

Can't look back on posts on my phone. .. but big shout out to all ! ! xx

Hi Mrs P, Kate from WDA's office booked all three of my scans on my behalf with Bob Miller at QFG in Cairns. It was all very straightforward and at no additional cost to me.
