I would have to dip into savings, luckily this has never happened to me. DH's work often stuff up his pay if he works overtime, and it gets fixed the next pay week.

I'm really surprised you have to wait a whole week. They should've just run another payrun as soon as they found out - they stuffed up majorly forgetting to pay people.

That was nice of your boss, I don't have a boss who would do that.

I probably would dip into savings or credit card - but I understand that not everyone has these available.

My sister's workplace constantly does not pay her on time - it might be a month late before they pay her and because it's a big payment, she'll get taxed a lot. It is really horrible - she'll have to rely on her bf to pay for bills/groceries etc and then pay him back once she's paid.

I just checked the bank account, they only paid me for 5 hours! I reported to centrelink, so only got $130 from them, then $105 from work, not enough after not being paid last week. Because it goes in after 5 I can't even call them until tomorrow. Grrr! I'm a single mum, I don't have another income to see us through, I have no savings, nothing! Hope they don't put it off again, I spent the money today and have a car payment and school fees to come out by direct debit, and need fuel

Wish me luck in talking to them about it and getting it this week!

Have you contacted the HR department?

From what I've been told in the past it's a breach of contract if your pay doesn't go in on the agreed upon intervals, and your company could get in a world of troubles. I know you said it's not the company's fault and your boss forgot to put the pays through, but seriously, didn't payroll notice there was a whole section of employees who didn't get their pays processed?!

Once the situation was brought to their attention, you'd think they would have done everything in their power to ensure everyone was paid in a reasonable timeframe.

I'm pretty sure it's illegal to not pay employees as per their contracts. And to then only get paid for 5 hrs would be like having your nose rubbed in it! If HR can't help how about a union or fairwork australia?

    Good luck!

They won't pay until next week. Am trying to decide if it's worth calling higher up from a mobile or not.

Not sure if your issue has been sorted yet, but this is most definitely a breach of the Fair Work Act, and you should contact the Fair Work Infoline if you wish to lodge a complaint. Alternatively, consider joining a union
