    Default Acupuncture for Fertility

    Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has tried acupuncture for fertility before?
If you have used it, was it helpful, did it work? What happened during the sessions?

I'm just curious about it at this stage.

    Thanks!

I have used acupuncture (not for fertility though).

It is surprisingly relaxing, considering you are lying down with needles sticking out of various points

The acupuncturist I was seeing for a couple of months specialised in conception and pregnancy and she was telling me that she loved her work because she loved being able to help people get pregnant.

I remember her saying that if her clients were having no luck falling pregnant, she would get them to send their partner in for treatment too, and that would usually work!

    Good luck!!

Worked for me :-) was ttc for 12 months. Had a cpl of mc so started accupuncture. Sessions went for 40mins and was not just about accupuncture itself but diet and tempratures etc. Im now 6 weeks pg with hcg going up incredibly and fx this bubs is a sticky one. The one thing i hated though was the tea drinking twice a day they tasted soooo gross!!! But was great even if it wasnt the thing that got me pg it def helped me relax and refocus on the balance in my life!! Hope that helped :-) goodluck!

Also subscribing, my GP recommended it to me today, especially as we have a long wait until we can get into a fertility specialist. Will let you know if I decide to go ahead!

Well it sounds really interesting so far!

Even if it only ends up reducing stress, that is a plus in my books. And if it has the added bonus of increasing fertility, that is a huge bonus!

I asked DH tonight if he would be open to it, and he said he definitely would be (as long as I wasn't the one sticking needles into him!).

Another question to those who have tried - how did you find a good acupuncturist? Were they recommended by GP? Or did you research them first?

I have been thinking about accupuncture as well and was wondering how you would choose one ... probably not someone you'd find in a shopping centre!

MrsNat as I said the one I will go to was recommended by GP, but they are known in Canberra for their fertility area of interest.

I have heard of one in Penrith that comes highly recommended if that is close to you?

Thanks CottonCandy! Wasn't sure if you meant the GP had recommended acupuncture in general, or had recommended a specific acupuncturist. I might ask my GP about it.

Penrith is a little far for me - I'm on the North Shore if anyone knows any good ones around here.
