This is how I justify school fees, child care would cost me so much more.

Independent School based on Steiner philosophies (but not officially Steiner as they exclude the spirituality component).

I have mine worked out for two kids, so... it starts at 6k/annum for both and then by the end of primary school it'll be 8.5k/annum for both.

This includes everything (books, camps, excursions etc...) just not uniforms.

It also includes a voluntary donation.

DS is in year 4 at an independant christian school.
    fees at $8,900 a year.
Going up to a total of $19,000 for high school

This includes all excursions, camp and most books.

extras are ..masterchef class , art club, surfing lessons and uniform.
thats about the same as the school the inlaws want to send our kids to. also independant, and all inclusive.
im voting public primary (literally 400m from our house) then private secondary (30min drive)

DD1 first year of high school is $7000.
I thought this too. Lol we pay just over $12000 a year for 2 children going 2 days a week. We get nothing back. It's still of money though.

We are in Adelaide. We pay $7800 per child at a private uniting church school. That is primary. Secondary will cost $20k per child.
I'm surprised at how cheap many of the schools interstate are! I thought Adelaide was cheaper for private schooling than elsewhere but obviously not. Most of the big private schools here are 10-12k for reception going up to 20k in yr 12

Thats pretty close to the sydney schools.

Kings is around 27k for year 12
I wanted to send the girls to Frensham and ds to Joeys and that was going to cost..roughly $38 to 40k each!!! But DH is not a believer in single sex or boarding school

There aren't *that* many private co-ed schools in Sydney are there? Off the top of my head I can only think of SCEGGS Redlands...

I know Barker, St Andrews etc are co-ed for 11 and 12 but are all boys until yr 11?

Private co-Ed is the plan for high school. Cost is expected to be increasing from
$18-25k depending on year of high school and how much fees increase in next 6 years.
