Default attention doulas and student doulas

    Hi all,

Wondering if you could tell me some experiences that are involved with being a doula? As in: do you feel like the maternity nurses feel you are in the way or shouldnt be there? Where did/are you doing your course and did you find it all you thought it would be?

Am thinking of doing a doula course and eventually hope to get into midwifry and just wanted some advice.

    thanks in advance x

    Hi pisces00,
I have had a good experience working in the hospitals. Most midwives are warm to the idea that the mum is having extra support!
I studied with Optimum Birth and Birthing From Within.
There are a few courses out there... good luck finding the one that suits you!

Hi there, I have had good experiences with midwives, having us there helps them out a bit I think so I have only ever got positive feedback
I trained through Childbirth International, and have enjoyed it. I intended to do my doula course and move on to midwifery, but I just love being a doula and supporting mums! I think I will study midwifery eventually but at the moment, this is such a passion for me! All the best with your studies x
