Default Rant/Vent: so unimpressed by police "assistance"

So, I was deiving to the beach today to have a nice day out with DD when I was attacked by someone with severe road rage.

Previously mentioned person was pretty much riding ON my tow ball, then at a round about, got in the other lane and literally ran me off the road. Not just swerved into my lane to scare me, but hit my (brand new, only had it for 3 weeks) car and ran me onto the median strip.

I'm so greatful that last week I changed DD's car seat to behind the driver's side as he hit my passenger side.

Called the police in hysterics and told them I was 36 weeks pregnant and had my 19 month old in the car also. Got told that my best option was to drive myself to the station and make a report.

    Are you freaking kidding me?!

Once at the station, sat in the waiting area for 30minutes for the patrol cops, then was told there was no need for me to be there and to just go home and report online. WTF?!?!

The guy drove off so immediately it is a pretty big offence that needs to be investigated (gave the guy on the phone his plate number and make/model of the car)

I just can't believe they could care less that a pregnant woman and her baby were ran off the road by some psycho and were sitting on a major roads median strip in hysterics...

The patrol cops weren't even busy either as they told me that this was the only thing they'd been "called to" all day...

The commissioner was less than impressed with how they handles it and is looking into it for me. Thank goodness for him.

That felt good to get that out. This week is just not my week.

Oh my gosh - that sounds terrifying. I hope you haven't been injured in anyway.

    That is not on.

I cant believe they gave you the run-around like that.

Hope you are all OK and not injured in anyway. Especially being 36 weeks pregnant.

So glad the police commissioner is looking into it for you.

Hope you catch this pri*k and he gets what is coming to him.

Hope your nerves are settled now what a horrible thing to go through.

I was run off the road by an on coming car on a dirt road, I flew through the air and crashed. I was the only one in the car luckily. My car was undrivable and I was bruised and sore. I climbed out and climbed up the embankment, the car that didnt move over had stopped in the middle of the road I waved with both arms to say I needed help and he drove off!

We found out who it was (small town) and I called the cops. They told me when I got home to go in and make a statement (a few days later - travelled home on the train with 2 kids). NOTHING was ever done - they got given a description of the car, told who it was and NOTHING.

The guy was in his 70's and 2 weeks after the accident had cataracts operated on.

So yes, they should be able to do something but sometimes dont as its a paperwork nightmare for them.

Gosh that sounds awful! How frightening!!

I'm impressed you were able to contact the Commissioner!! How did you manage that? Did you just go straight to the commissioner or did you have to keep escalating through the ranks?

Yeah I'm ok so far. Just have to watch for early labour now. Like I wasn't stressed enough because DP works FIFO and might not be here for it.

DP called the commissioner so I have no idea how he got him. Buthe seemed pretty nice when he called me for info.

I got lucky and saw the piece of paper they'd written the details on with the rego etc... Also had the guys name so if nothing gets done, I have found a few on white pages in the area.

Had heaps of braxton hicks all arvo so hoping nothing comes from it.

DD was too cute at the station though, she kept coming up and rubbing my leg saying "k? K?"

    God love her!

So now on top of everything, before the insurance co will even try to find this guy, I need to pay my excess... I have to pay the vehicle license transfer fee next pay and after that am due to give birth...

So even though this guy pushed my car off the road, I'm getting screwed from all angles!!

Why is everything so frigging backwards and against me this year?!?!
