Default Travel Insurance for IVF pregnancies

I am SHOCKED! I can't find an insurer who will cover an IVF pregnancy for travel past the 18th week if at all.

IVF mummies, have any of you found cover before - and if so with who?

    Thanks so much.

Whaaaat? I had no idea this would be an issue. Good luck

Have you tried medibank private? We use their travel insurance and it's always been pretty good.

    Who have you looked at?

ETA Are you pregnant with twins? If you are then I don't think you could get cover.

I know, I just find this absurd!!!

    I've looked at:
    • Allianz
    • Medibank
    • Columbus Direct
    • Bupa
    • 1Cover
And I think a few others, I am just going back over all of them now.

    Which ones did you find?

I'd love it if you could look into which ones may cover me. I'm so sad that my pregnancy has so many stigmas attached

Hi Bebe. I've researched this quite a bit and, for an additional premium, I'm fairly sure 1cover will insure ivf pregnancies up to 26 weeks. I don't think it was on their website - I called and asked them. Worth a try? If you need the details pm me

Yes that is correct. It would always be at an additional premium if the pregnancy arose from services associated with IVF. It is in their product disclosure statement.

Ahhh huh! I am very happy to pay the premium. It says it's not covered in the PDS - I'll give them a call tomorrow.

I have just re read 1 Cover PDs and it says you can get cover on Page 31. So I am just wondering what you are reading?
Yup, we wanna go to Croatia for 2 weeks.

I read the PDS as you get cover for a single, uncomplicated pregnancy, which did not arise from services or treatment associated reproduction program, including but not limited to IVF.

I guess I will have to phone tomorrow, and get clarification.

Ohhhh gosh I am silly, I CONTINUED reading and see further info where it's covered with 1cover by paying a premium. What a dumbo!

    Thanks again for your help.
