Default Anyone built their own bunk beds?

    As the title states...

I am sure it'd be much easier and less time consuming to go out and just buy a bunk bed but I have this thing where I want to do something different and creative lol much to my husbands annoyance.

If anyones done this, do you have any tips, hints, handy sites you used?

First thing is to look at Aus standards. Should give you ideas on min/ max heights on everything. I would also go into a furniture store with a tape measure and get some basic measurements like safety rails and height between the two bunks. I then start drawing the different views to scale with all measurements written in and make up a cutting list.

I keep picturing the scene from Step Brothers to be honest
It would be awesome to build your own though, and be able to have them however you wanted. Subscribing to this for the future

I am a trades women and have made cots and all sorts of children's furniture in the past. At the moment I am making a sling swing/ hammock for my 2 yr old. Next project is a double lightning McQueen bed with steering wheel and full display :-) I have one lucky 2 year old!
