Default Parents of spirited children, chat and support thread.

So I'm struggling a bit at the moment and I thought after reading a few threads it would be nice to chat to other parents of spirited children (or child). So if you've been blessed with a spirited family feel free to join me- chat, vent and offer support.

So at the moment I'm struggling with a bit of "why me-ness", honestly I feel like everything is a struggle. I bought the boys an add on to their wall car track the other day and they've pulled the entire car track off the wall despite the use of 3m tabs they've managed to pull paint off as well (we rent). Yesterday was just awful I'm suffering from a lack of sleep (insomnia?) coupled with DS1 constantly getting into my bed at night, I've managed to get DS2 to stay in his bed which is side caring next to mine which has been a year long mammoth struggle so go me but yeah now I have a 22kg hot water bottle keeping me and DD toasty at night we've been doing 123 magic but I've been slack lately so I guess some of their behaviour is partly my fault but I've been having the horrible why me thoughts, why can't they just be 'normal' children, why can't I go to the toilet without worrying about what they are doing either to themselves, the house or DD. Why can't I confidently take them out to have coffee with a friend, they can't even sit still for 5 min. This afternoon I have to take DS1 to the doctors and I'm dreading it, the wait in the surgery the constant keeping them in check in an unsuitable environment, the looks from other people, juggling to stop them grabbing everything in the room while trying to have a conversation with the doctor

Don't get me started on the lack of family support I wish I would just pick up the phone and ask my mum to watch Dad and DS2 while I take DS1.

It was a support chat thread that ran on BH for a few years

You get let out upon your child(ren)s good behaviour, we had lovely little white jackets to wear and everything!

I'm not sure if I have a spirited child but maybe. His teacher says he is "sensitive" lol. The other day he did a flip out of a tree and really hurt himself and then he got mad at the tree and he kicked it and yelled at it BA ha ha ha. I know what you mean re the coffee. I am so ashamed to take him out as he is just so full on and won't sit down. I have one very sympathetic and understanding friend and one who seems to now just hate me. I try really really hard to control his behaviour.. More so than anyone with a child my age. But I constantly fail. We were literally singled out at the circus to please stop distracting the gymnasts and trapeze people because he would stop trying to act out everything sigh

Great idea thermo, subscribing. I'll come back later when I don't have a toddler trying to swing from the fan

    Hi
    Oh, oh, onion skin
    You might see the trap
    But you still fall in
    When things start to roll
    Your skin flies off
    And the teardrops flow
