I have a front loader and I hate it. Can't wait to get a top loader.
The quickest cycle is over an hour! What a joke.
I also find it ruins clothes quicker then my old top loader.
I miss that big old bulky thing...

I used to have front loaders, and I had a *really* old one. Loved it! When I moved in with DP, we decided to keep his top loader purely because it was newer. I really miss my front loader You don't have to worry about dissolving the powder first, it doesn't have the horrible thing in the middle that destroys and puts little fluff balls on my clothes, it's louder, it's freaking huge.

I think we've all got our preferences but I'd say if you're having problems with towels try them on a different cycle or perhaps a different powder.

Thanks everyone. I have tried different cycles and like u said I do not use fabric softener but I have tried the vinegar. The towels are definitely softer if I put them in the drier but I live in Kalgoorlie so y waste electricity when I get plenty of beautiful sunshine. I have not tried liquid purely because I have never used it before in my life. Also yes the water here is very hard but you don't tend to notice the stiffness when u use a top loader. Like I said I used to have one and never had a complaint. I'll try the liquid and when it gets closer to bub coming along I'll do a few test runs on the cloth nappies. If they stiffen the
    Machine is going! Thanks everyone

Hi, in regards to the stiffness of your towels, it could be from drying quickly in the sun. Try hanging them out in a shady spot. This was recommended by one of my cloth nappy brands for their mcns.

I know living where you are there would be no need for a dryer, but finishing them off for 5 mins in s dryer will make them soft :-)

I like a front loader esp for delicate clothes but I believe you have to use liquid washes. I use Omo and it works for me.

The washing powders don't work as well.
