Yep we play white noise for the entire sleep, just have the iPhone/iPad plugged in, that way you dont have to go in to resettle and should eventually not need it.

My DS seems to fall asleep easier if I have the dryer on. I don't mind tho because I always get the washing done as soon as he falls asleep

We used white noise with DD from about 5 months to 2 years. It really helped her to stay asleep. When we decided to stop using it she didn't skip a beat. If it's helping I say go with it

Yes we all use white noise to sleep in my house, DD is 16 months and has used it since birth and is an amazing sleeper. Good thing is she can sleepWithout it though so doesn't appear to be a necessity I say go with whats working for you and bub!

We used to use it all the time for DS & stopped at around 12 months. He's almost 2 & we've just started again because he's been waking up a lot recently. He only woke once last night. Might be a coincidence but we'll be using it again.

I sometimes put it on for me! DH & I like rain noise & often will go though periods of putting it on to help us sleep. Go with whatever works. It's not hurting anyone. Chances are he'll grow out of it & if not, so what? Lots of adults use white noise (or music) to help them sleep.
