Default Using white noise to resettle , is it bad?

DS normally sleeps for about 1 cycle 30to 40 mins during the day then he will wake up screaming. I have been turning on white noise to resettle him and it seems to work. I wonder how many of u use this technique? Do they become dependent on it just like dummy? I only use this during the day as he catnaps a lot. He is all right at night, just waking up for his feed, every 3 to 4 hourly.

White noise is great if it's working for you. I wouldn't worry about him being dependent on it. It might become an excellent sleep cue that is really handy to get him to sleep in new situations.

I used to play classical music to DD as a baby to get her to sleep and we never had any problems with her not sleeping without it.

We stopped at about 10 months I think, not sure why now

If you've found something that works, just go with it. I tried it with DS when he was younger buy he never got the idea.

When DS was a newborn, he wouldn't sleep at night. I then downloaded white noise music and he started sleeping. He's 8 months old and I still play the same music for him every night. It calms human why not = )

DS has a night light that plays music that he loved! He's 2 now and ever since he figured out how to get it working on his own we'd just hear it randomly through his monitor...he had obviously woken up and then just needed his music to go back to sleep.
These days if I turn it on he gets up and turns it off 9 times out of 10. I used to put a fan on in his room when he napped (he no longer naps) and my other two were home to drown out their noise so he slept better. He has no attachment to the fan.

We used a white noise app on the iphone all the time when DD was a newborn. She grew out of needing it at about 5 months. It was great! If it works, then I'd use it.
