    Default 1st timer...just under 5 weeks..no fetal pole!!!

    Hi everyone,

New to this site and just needing some advice! Thought i was originally closer to 7 weeks, ultrasound shows just under 5 weeks though! Gestational sac and yolk sac visible but no fetal pole! Went back to GP with report from ultrasound and he seemed really concerned it wasnt viable, told me i had only a 10% chance of it progressing. As a 1st timer he could see i was extremely concerned (quite teary with the thought of it not happening!) so he decided to call the radiographer who'd checked the ultrasound. Radiographer was very positive (due to there already being a yolk sac), said it was more than likely just not far enough along to see. Has anyone else had similar results and its all gone along normally from here? Also concerned because i also found out i have a subseptate uterus, anyone have the same problem?

    Thank you

wow. I know hearing those words are hard... it might not be viable..
it is really hard to play the waiting game. I did have this happen to me. twice. First time it happened there was bleeding yolk sac and it ended badly. we lost our baby. however, second time it happened ended in a much better result. I now have a 7 week old in my arms as I type. It turned out I ovulated late. thats all.

The only advice I have is to try not to stress and listen to your instincts. If its meant to be it will be. if not, then recover, heal emotionally and physically, and try again when you feel the time is right.

I wouldn't panic just yet - under 5 weeks is very, very early.

My first scan was done at 6 weeks to confirm pregnancy and I had the gestational sac and yolk sac but the ultrasound tech could only JUST make out the fetal pole - I mean it was less than 1mm!!

    Good luck xx

Exactly the same thing happened to me.. Took 4 scans over a number of weeks to finally c a baby n heartbeat and now here I am about to have a c-section with a healthy bubba on Friday
Best bit of advice is just wait it out and see how your next scan goes.. I hope it all turns out well x

I had very early ultrasounds with bleeds after my 1st DS and my first was around that time and i had no Pulse ut a health yolksak etc and no heart beat before 5 weeks is very common it's being built at that very time and next time we went at 6 weeks there it was beating away and he's now 3.5years old hang in there you may have nothing to worry about and that was very unfair of the doctor to comment and in appropriate if you ask me. Every womens pregnancy is different best to just wait till 6 weeks and ask for another ultrasound x best of luck

Same thing happened to me. Ovulated late in cycle, about day 32 I think it was. I'm currently 29 weeks, so it worked out fine for me.
