Default Early Pregnancy Unit? Have you been?

    Hi ladies!

I got my BFP on Sunday, after having an ectopic pregnancy last November. My GP is waiting my HCG/blood results back and at my appt. this Friday (should everything be normal.) I will get a referral to our Early Pregnancy Unit & for a ultrasouns at 6weeks.

Has anyone go thru early pregnancy?

    What should I expect?

How often did you go and to how many weeks? We dont want to tell anyone, including work, til I am 12weeks but might find this hard with many doc appts! My work is good, so if I have to tell them then I will.

Does this affect the rest of my pregnancy in regards to care? I went private with my DS, and was going to try and go thru our birthing centre which is highly sought after, but maybe I should consider private again?

Any other advice would be great!!!

Normally normally they will see you up until at least the 12 week scan, to confirm that all is well. If they can downgrade you you to a less high risk clinic they will, however it will still be following the medical model of care, ie obstetricians, not midwives. Was myself downgraded after 16 weeks and all was well, but can not get to see a midwife, they won't refer yet, if at all which is beginning to irritate. Means that your chances of the birth centre are probably nil, as they are difficult to get into when all has gone smoothly, never kind when they feel there is cause for concern. I am currently 24 weeks and still no midwife, even though I keep asking. You are just gonna have to wait. Upside is, you will recieve more scans than the usual person, so get more sneaky peeks at the new edition.

Thank you! I am hoping to get the all clear once I have had a scan to confirm that newbie is implanted in the right place, in saying that, I'll go as often as they want if it means making sure everything is OK!

I am little bit disappointed about the birthing centre, I was unsure about getting in anyway, my due date is the last day of the month so I think by the time I could even get a referral (they wont accept til 12weeks) their quota will be filled for the month I'm still going to cross all my fingers and toes though!
I hope everything goes well and smoothly for the rest of your pregnancy!
