Default Help us deciding on baby name

    Hi All,

We have a conflict between us with the girl baby names. Can you please help us out. Any more suggestions would be great. Our last name starts with "N" and have two syllables and 6 letters.

So far we have come up with the following names in order of preference:

    *Sara
    *Rianna
    *Alya
    *Isha

Also, one thing we would like the most would be to critique the names and provide your views on bullying, spelling and pronunciation issues.

I like those names Only thing I would probably change is the spelling of Rianna to Rhianna.

    Other names I like are

    Savannah
    Grace
    Sophie
    Emily
    Amia
    Ava-lee
    Isla
    Olivia

Being a teacher, pronunciation/spelling of names is often a source of frustration for kids. Obviously you want to go for a name you love, but my thoughts on these are:

Sara - When reading it, don't know whether the first syllable rhymes with 'share' or 'car'. When spoken, she'd probably be asked whether it has an h - more so if it's the former pronunciation.

Rianna - No problems with reading it. An h would probably be assumed when spoken.

Alya - I'm not sure how to pronounce this one from reading it. Being an unusual name, she'd probably be asked to spell it quite often - even if it's phonetic.

Isha - Can't tell if it's a short or long vowel sound from reading it. Again, would probably be asked to spell it quite often - even if it's phonetic.

That said, they're all lovely names. Some kids hate having to spell their names or having them mispronounced, but others love having unusual names.
