Default Pregnancy symptoms but negative tests! Am i losing my mind? Please help!!

Ok so I’m 26 and my husband and I have been TTC this cycle and AF is now two weeks late! For the last 3 weeks I have been having all sorts of pregnancy symptoms…nausea, metallic taste in mouth, headaches, extremely tired, have to go to the toilet more often and just the last week have had a heavy/stretching feeling in my uterus and my breasts get the tingling “milk let down” feeling. I have a young daughter so I know how it feels to be pregnant and I feel exactly the same as when I was pregnant with her. I also had a strange brown spotting 10 days before my period was due which turned heavier and pinky/red for 2 days and then went back to brown and very light for 5 days. I have a 38 day cycle and my periods are always on time and last for 5 days (being heavy for the first 2 days and light for 3 days) I have taken 4 HPT all negative and I even had a blood test 3 days ago which also came back negative! The only abnormality in my blood was my iron level was slightly low (which it was when I was pregnant with my daughter).

Is it possible I am pregnant? I have read that some people don’t get a positive on blood tests til they are 4 months along? My doctor won’t send me for an ultrasound, she just says to wait til AF comes and if it doesn’t she will give me hormone tablets to start it! I’m losing my mind! Has someone had a similar experience? If it’s not pregnancy what else could it be? Please help

I'm not sure you can be pregnant if there is no HCG detected?
Maybe wait a week and go get another blood test?

Sounds like your cycle could have been 28 days.

One of my friends got negative hpts and swore she was pregnant, "just knew" etc. A blood test confirmed her suspicions and now her daughter is 1.

Oops just re-read your post. I didn't read the getting blood test part. I think it's a little unusual to be pregnant if the blood test is negative (unless they mucked up the test).

The mother in law and a friend of mine didn't get positive blood tests till a couple months in. Just not enough hormones or something. It's possible, but it could be possible you are experiencing a phantom pregnancy. If you want see another doctor for a second opinion. It won't hurt.

Just got back from seeing a new doctor and he has referred me for an ultrasound. I can't get in til the 28th though but at least if my period hasn't come by then I can get some answers! Started having some aching/pinching sensations around my ovaries yesterday afternoon. I seem to get new symptoms every couple of days. Talk about torture!

I don't want to be a party pooper, but it could be that your body is convinced that you're pregnant because you want to be. I REALLY hope thats not the case, but it is a possibility. You're showing all the symptoms of your first pregnancy, but no new ones and perhaps that's because your body knows what should be expected. If it were me I'd just carry on as if I weren't and assume that I wasn't. That way, if you are it'll be a lovely surprise. If you're not it'd be disappointing, but less so than if you convinced yourself that you are. I hope I'm making sense haha. Fingers crossed for you that your hpt it's just too low to register yet There's a good chance that's all it is, I didn't get a bfp with my son until about 7 weeks with a hpt, although bloods showed he was there without a doubt

    Hi Eko,

You're not a party pooper at all. I did look into phantom pregnancies but I really don't know. Since trying for #2 I have thought that I was a crazy woman wanting them so close in age! So if I'm not pregnant hubby and I are going to wait another 6 months before trying again, but if I am pregnant of course we will be thrilled. Either way I'm happy with the outcome. I have also had a couple more symptoms than when I was pregnant with my daughter. I have tried to just forget it all and continue on like nothing is wrong but it is hard when the nausea comes to visit. At least I only have to wait 9 more days before I get a definite answer

So I had my ultrasound yesterday and it came back normal. No cysts, no pregnancy, nothing unusual at all! So I guess I am relieved but it still doesn't answer why I have been having weird symptoms. I guess I will just keep plodding along and wait for af to come and hope everything sorts itself out.
