    Default Scans

Hi everyone I found out last week I am pregnant, should be about 5 weeks along. I am going on holidays soon so won't be able to get a scan until I get back and by then I'll be about 11-12 weeks. Is it ok to leave it until then? Not that I have much choice! Hehe. Is it usual to do one as late or do they normally do them earlier? This is my first pregnancy so I'll have a lot of questions

I dont really know much about scans..but I did a course with a girl who was pregnant and they didnt book her a scan until she was 12 weeks along..Apparently thats the norm around here..Not sure about anywhere else.

Normally they do a dating scan prior to 12 weeks if you are unsure on dates, than one at 12 weeks for the nuchal fold, as well as a blood test from memory.

You can go up until 18 weeks without a scan if you want to lol. The early scan is only for people who have irregular periods so they can be given a due date and the 12 week scan is optional as its testing for chromosomal abnormalities (down syndrome etc)

    Hi snarlz
I am currently 12 weeks pregnant with my third child and didn't have my first ultrasound until 2 days ago at 11+6. From reading the sticker on the copies I received the early pregnancy ultrasound is for anytime 12 weeks or under so i'm sure you will be fine
