    Hi Ladies,

Just wanted to pop in with a quick update, and also wish everyone luck with their upcoming tests, epu/et and ultrasounds.
Ngaiz, I hope this round works for you and your responding better to the meds. I had the same problem with the clinic, they didnt want to up my meds despite me telling them from the beginning i didnt respond to less than 125.
Meshell, goodluck with your ultrasound, i hope both embies stuck for you. Your hcg sounded nice and high so id say theres a good possibility both have taken.

I havent been very well myself, the twins are proving to be quite a struggle to say the least. Ive been hospitalised a couple of weeks back with hyperemises gravidium, which is basically non stop throwing up, theyve given me some nice drugs that have kind of helped and im not throwing up as much but on the flip side the tablets make you nice and constipated, which is awesome, if its not one end its another! Complete and utter exhaustion is another term i frequently use, i think during the day i can fall asleep at the drop of a hat, but at night i just cant get comfortable. All my morning sicknesss stuff started at around 10.5 weeks, just when i thought it was going nice and breezy, it all kinda hit me in the face.
But on a positive, I had my NT scan done on Tuesday, which came back all good, very low for everything and i got to see the little monkeys jumping around, sucking their thumbs and looking like they were having a party! Kinda made me feel it was all worth it. They also measured bigger than they were supposed to so my due date has been moved forward 4 days, 21/12.
I did read on another thread about the due dates etc, had a bit of a laugh, i think sometimes things can be a little misconstrued and read in the wrong context. But i think its bizarre the clinic is working out Meshells due date the way they are, the clinic worked mine out by epu date, which was when they were fertilised. But obviously even they were wrong in dates cause the ultrasound said they were 6weeks and 4 days!
Anywho ive attached a pic of each of the twins, one is sucking its thumb! Goodluck again to everyone on their journeys, its really good to be able to keep up to date with everyones progress.

    Hey Meshell,

Im so happy for you that it finally worked for you. Its an incredible feeling seeing them jump around on the screen, i can totally understand your anxiety at wanting to get the scan. I was exactly the same! Congratulations again, i hope u have a good uneventful pregnancy!
Im definately getting big, its unreal! I dont fit anything anymore, my dh takes me shopping every week and i try to pick something up for myself cause i just have no clothes that fit. I was standing next to a lady that was 20 weeks, this week up at the school, and my belly would be the same size as hers, its a crack up! I can feel where they are most of the time, and 2 nights ago i had this big lump sticking out one side of my belly, dh thought it was hilarious, we just watched as it slowly subsided, was just unreal. Did they tell u at your scan how big your bub was measuring and give a final due date?

Haha i think i knew both embies took from about 2 days after transfer! And it didnt bother me until i started thinking, what if they split again?? We could end up with 4? Omg then the omg kicked in. Poor old hubby was shaking at first u/s praying for a max of two, was so funny lmao. Everyone ive spoken to that has multiples has said its a lot easier when its 2nd or 3rd bubs, i suppose your more equipped once youve been through a singleton. This will be my 5th pregnancy, i had 1 miscarriage and 3 bubbas. All singles. We have my step daughter with us also so with 4 older kids at home 17 through to 6 i think well have plenty of hands on deck to help!
Im pretty sure the hbs where 100 and 110 at the 7week scan. Dr didnt say it was low or anything to worry about and at 12w4d they where both 162. I wouldnt worry about it, im sure by the sounds of it everything is fine and bubs is growing beautifully.
Ive learnt a lot thru this ivf journey and its bizarre how we stress over every tiny twinge, but when i fell naturally, i never worried about a thing! I think, stay positive, relax as much as you can and enjoy every second of it, even the ms and big boobs lol! Its gotta b a lot healthier than the anxiety caused from stressing. And the drs should be doing their best to Encourage this instead of instilling doubt and confusion and worry!

Hi all I am new to this site and am very interested to read about all the successful results by using the fertility centre in springwood. I only recently found out about the fertility centre which is in my immediate area that offers IVF so cheaply. I heard of it through a work friend who's daughter has PCOS. She had heard of this centre and got the usual docos sent to her from the centre by email, and she had passed the info back to me. I am very excited about the possibility of trying IVF in the next few months. My husband and I have been married just over 10 years now and I have been off the pill unprotected for atleast 12 yrs. I knew there was something wrong but was always fearful of finding out why it wasn't happening. Last year I saw a specialist at QFG after trying for several years on and off without success. It was then that we found out after a SA that his sperm count and motility was quite low and that ICSI would be our best option.

The thought of spending so much money on IVF with the chance of it not working (as I had read so many stories) was not appealing to us. Don't get me wrong we have been saving to have IVF with QFG we would spend as much money and try as many times as possible to hopefully make it work but if it weren't to happen it would devastate us and I am worried what it would do to our relationship. So again to find out about this place has made me feel as though I may be much closer to having our dream come true of having a baby. My main concern and I guess that is what I would like to ask everyone that has posted in the past that has tried this place and other IVF clinics (where the cost is much higher) is what is the difference between this place and others? Is the only difference with it that they do not put you under for the EPU? I am worried about that. I have had all the diagnostic exams myself and they rule me out as having any fertility issues. I have had a HSG and was in what I consider a fair amount of cramping for the night after. Has anyone that has tried this clinic also had a HSG performed also? Can you tell me about the pain and how you would compare it?

I'd be interested to hear from anyone that has tried the fertility centre in springwood and what their thoughts are.. anyone that has fallen pregnant recently good luck with everything and anyone that is still trying i wish you all the very best in the future.

P.S I definately and especially enjoyed hearing your stories Meshell and Tamm congrats!! , it is something to definately look forward to..

    xx Ali.

    Hi Ali, welcome.

I think the biggest differences are:

-Cost. My previous clinic was $5000 out of pocket and TFC is $1300 for your first round. Round two at my previous clinic was $4500 out of pocket and TFC is $600. This was the major decision maker for us.
-Protocol. They only use an Antagonist Protocol at TFC. Where you inject FSH for four days then introduce a second injection, Orgalutran (we like to call it orang-utan here). They also control your cycle by starting you on an oral contraceptive so they know exactly when you will cycle. If you have no success after a couple of rounds and the docs decide you need a different protocol they will refer you back to QFG.
-EPU. Is done under sedation not general anaesthetic. This reduces your out of pocket cost as private day surgery is not required. My first EPU was extremely painful but they have since updated their policy to increase the pain relief given.
-Staff. The drs are all from QFG and have an amazing list of letters behind their names. They will consult with eachother if they're not sure of something. They work on a rotational basis and only work mornings. The nurses Lou, Melissa and Leesa are amazing. They do all your bloods, scans and are always happy to answer your questions. They too have years of combined experience. Because the nurses do most of the work, costs are reduced.
-Freezing embies is not included in your costs and is an extra $1500 (they are looking for ways to reduce this). But they aim for quality not quantity so you may not have any to freeze. I had five and chose not to as another cycle was only $600 and the overall cost of freezing plus FET was well over $2000.

You can have all your records transferred from QFG and the lively ladies at reception (Rhonda and Renee) will organise it all for you.

Overall I think it's a good starting point. I did the exact same protocol there that I was going to have at my 'boutique' clinic. Needless to say, I had $10000 put aside for it an it didn't work. I now have a lot more money left over to try again.

I can't think of anything else but if I do I be sure to add it below.

    Afm-first bloods and ultrasound tomorrow.

Morning ladies. Gee it's cold, come back summer!!!

Im on day 7 of jabbing now. I had US and BT this morning, 5 follies 1.30mm-1.5mm and several smaller ones. I'm pretty happy with that. Lining is 0.85. Everything is looking on track for EPU on Tuesday.

Still waiting for Medicare to sort my stuff from the last cycle.

ETS-I worked out, in the last three years while ttc there has been over 40 babies born and about 10 more on the way. This is all family, close friends and work colleagues.

    Hi Ladies,

    Welcome Ali,

The fertility centre is a great option fir those needing straight forward ivf/icsi. Anything further and i believe youre required to go to a more high tech place. Everyone there was lovely and always helpful, pretty much exactly as ngaiz has said. I found epu not to bad, but everyone is different. Ive only ever gone as far as epu at another clinic, and that was cause i was a donor and yes i guess under anesthetic is definately a nicer experience if i can say that! And about the only other difference was the dearer clinic had food! Lol. To use an analagy i heard the other day, its like going to aldi instead of woolies, if that makes sense.
Ngaiz, i hope all goes well for epu and et.
Meshell, i think my morning sickness is probably whats kept me from stressing out to bad, being sick most of the time kind of takes the thought off the time.
Im 14 weeks this friday and all seems to be going really well. My ms for now has eased quite a bit, my boobs are still killer, and if i can share a bit of handy advice, anyone getting backed up on the pesseries, i cant rememebrr what they are called, pregnancy brain, lol, go and get coloxyl. Take two every night, its become my new best friend. I felt one of them move on saturday, i almost clobbered my poor hubby, i thought he hit me in the stomach, the look on his face was priceless.
I hope your all keeping well and goodluck to everyone. And goodluck for ur scan on friday meschell, let us know how you go!
